Sportex exhausts

  1. #1
    Hi people,

Had a Dual exit backbox fitted to my 2001 VTR recently, its made by sportex (2 x 4" jap), its quite loud (real low tone) but i want it more raspy, how would i go about doing this?

Would this mean changing the centre section? (my step dad isnt too keen on this as it had had to be bent to fit the backboxes?)

Or could i cut the silencer out and weld a bit of pipe around? or just replace it?

Cheers any help would be appreciated! Levi

Changing the centre section will help. Personally I'd flog the sportex for a complete setup you like. Carworx systems are very raspy, the scopion is nice too

Dont really want to just sell, as step dads spent a fair bit of his time on it to get it to fit properly, will think about a new system in the future, im sure it will sound a bit nicer as it does more miles. Thanks Levi

straight through pipe for the centre section would probably give a touch more rasp then

I think I now the kind of note your lookin for, is it the kind of noise that a Honda makes, like a really tingy raspy not?

Possibley changing the centre section box for a smaller one of lossin it completely mite give that effect but may just make the tone deeper and louder.

I think the more warrrrp warrrrpy noise's are made by a straight through setup but with a smaller can at the rear. I had a Dual exit on my last car a 2.0ltr Cougar straight through and the cans wer the smallest ones I could find, The tial pipe was the same size as the can so there was hardly any baffles which gave a fantasic note right through the rev range.

But in your case like I said you could just make it louder if you remove the centre box rather than changing the note.

Best option is to talk to a Custom exhaust shop.

most raspy exhaust in the world ever, ever, ever for our engines is the pug sport.

Spoon honda efforts are a different league though

doesnt raspy sound a little bit unhealthy?!

Yeh thats the sort of sound im after, i will phone around some exhaust companies tomorrow, and see if they can make a centre section to fit my car and back boxes, a mate suggested cutting the box out of the pipe and sliding a slightly larger pipeover the two halves and welding but this sounds a bit bodge to me!
