Good Finish on Tinted Rear Lights??

  1. #1
Sprayed my rear lights with some tinting spray and looks pretty good. However I wasnt too happy with the finish when I done them. I knew they ideally have to be baked to give the 'glossy' finish i'm after but I have read this can be done in any normal oven. Ive also heard that just polishing the lights can give a similar finish.

Does anyone know anything more on this or have came across any of the methods above?

have you tried lacquering over it?

not yet mate, wasnt sure on whether the finish using lacquer would depend on my spraying ability, which isnt awesome.

Im skint after the repairs so was kind of hoping the oven would work. lol

Has anyone else tried lacquer on their tints?

Be careful about messing around with your rear lights... The police could be really picky and if you've tinted them by making them a lot darker then you've infact made them worthless to other road users which would be considered illegal.

Just something I was picked up on a while back.

i tinted mine myself with tinting spray a while back, and then gave them a little polish and they came out a treat!! also i put about 7 layers of the spray on, although the can only advises about 3, but however i still passed MOT with them twice!

they were very very dark but i never once got pulled with them like that in the 9months i had them on, and they passed MOT like that! the way i did it was to spray a layer on, then allow it to dry for 20mins in the sun, then wire them back up and test them in the dark garage! the paint didn't affect them that much, they were still very visible!! i sold them to someone on here but cant remember who!! if i find out i'll ask for more pics with them lit up at night!

i used the foilatec stuff from halfords, you can get red blue or black.
once they dryed they were shiney so the was no need for laquer or polish
