New brakes - Something Not Right Tho

  1. #1
Had my new brakes fitted the other day but somethings not right.

Has anyone heard of this before.

Im still beddin them in but, round town all is fine untill Im on the motorway then after 15-20miles I get a shudder/vibration that gets worse which I can only explain as - it feels like there is something in the tyre and you can feel it everytime the wheels goes round + under braking its worse.

But then by magic it goes?

I noticed the rear drivers wheel was very warm to the touch and the disc burnt my finger wen I poked it, but the passanger side is ok as are all the fronts.

Garage said, fobbed me off with some cock & bull story about a wedge holdin the pad in or somethin? and said cos there pattern parts . . . Yer Whatever!

Going back monday to look over it but anyone ever had any problem like this?

    Thanks guys

And this only started after having the brakes fitted?

Maybe a sticking caliper causing the pads to be constantly gripping one of the discs and casing extreme heat. The extreme heat coloud have warped part of the disc and cause the vibrations.

Well the vibrations have gone and the brakes seem fine, with no problems at all.

Never had this kind of problem before but they seem to have bedded in so guess if there is something not right it will show up on wednesday in my MoT.

Cheers for the helpfull advice, didnt apply to me but useful information.

Rep has been rewarded - thank you

when i bought my VTS the brakes were incorrectly fitted. Changed discs and pads front and rear myself last week. simple job with a haynes manual!

there is a wedge holding the pad i place. take it apart and clean/grease it up, it may just be sticking a bit.
