engine revs/judders on own

   hello , wonder if anyone can help me ive got a 1998 saxo vtr and the engine judders when driving along it also revs on its own at standstill and often cuts out, any one know whats wrong with it? (this problem has probably been discussed on here before but im new to this sorry!)

   spark plugs could be shagged or that thing that the spark plugs come from could be shagged sorry i dont know the name of the thing! it has gone from my mind !

   changed spark plugs still the same probably the coil pack or coolent temp sensor
