809's or 708's which ones?

    Rught guys as i'm building a t/b engine at the mo which is running 79mm high comp pistons qep big valve head with uprated gearbox but got the prob of cams.
    Do i go for 708's or go the full joby an put 809's in with uprated springs an soild lifters need your advice guys?

    got for the big boy if you have the uprated pistons and valve train to handle it, only problem is it will be a bit rude around the town but what car wouldnt be with throttle bodies on

    I agree go for the 809's it'll compliment the t/b's.

    are the 809's that different? I may remember it that they really moved the power band right to the top of the rev range where the 708s gave a better mid range and top end but at the expense off out and out power

    it all depends what you want from your car. is it purely for track etc or everyday use.also youve got the pistons so your half way way there. a saxo with 180bhp, just right. personal preference mate

    speak to QEP, they will tell you which cams will be best for you.

    Is it gonna be for road use? ie in need of an MOT? If so its gotta be the 708's (or how about 715's? just to throw a spanner in the works ) Cus anything lairer and you aint getting a ticker as u wont pass emissions....

    right guys yes its for road use but i like to drive near the redline mark!!
    Yes they do mave the move further up the revs an get more overall power?
    As for the mot it isnt a prob

    or how about 715's?

    when i was getting my cams i thought about these, when i spoke to QEP they told me not to bother with the 715s as its an old cam design and not very good. they make pretty much the same power as 708s just higher up, 8k+

    have you thouhgt about Newmasn Cams? they have some good specs.
