Anyone Got Spax Suspension?

  1. #1
Hi Guys, Anyone running Spax Suspension at present?

Look around and 40mm is really as low as I wana go, anythin else is abit to low, so just woundered what people thought of Spax.

    Good value for money?

    I made a list:

    Apex - 25mm
    AVO - 25mm
    FK - 40mm
    Gmax- 35mm - 55mm
    Knoi - 30mm
    Spax - 40mm
    Weitec - 40mm

Spax was cheaper than the Weitec and FK kits so, thats wat I was thinkin. Won't be sort suspension out till after xmas but its nice to now wat your lookin for before hand.

    Thnks

Plus would a VTS sit abit lower on 14's instead of 15's ?

Lookin at 185/55/14s against the VTS 15s

I have just fitted the 40mm Spax PSX Kit (Adjustable shocks) it was £250 from POTN there on offer at the moment.

I’m more than happy with the handling and the ride quality isn’t too bad.

I know I'm a faggot but the roads round here are so bad its not worth the pain.

I'll whack it to hard when it needs to be.

Shut up telling me how cheap your supension was its of no use to me
  13. #13
yeah the roads round here are shite aswell but i'm lazy and cant be arsed adjusting it all the time so i just set it up so it was bastid hard and have left it

The missus has spax on her vtr and I have bilsteins on mine.

With the same wheel set up mine are much more involving to drive but hers feels a lot comfier. Depends weather you want comfort or drivability
  15. #15
I wouldn't say mine was comfy yours must be well rough and I'm on the gay boy setting.
  16. #16
All i was saying is that for everyday driving, spax are great but if you want some balls out track action, or a very stiff ride the billies are for you

I'm not having a go mate

I have the 60mm Spax PSX kit on my VTS. I got it for £200. I used to have it set on half and half and even if I had one person in the back, as soon as I hit a bump or pot hole, the rear of the car used to sink into the hole and then bounce back out again. So I decided to tighten both sides up and it's sooo much better now. Feels a lot steardier than before.

As for the Spax kit itself... It is reasonably priced. It depends what you'll be using your car for. If it's just going to be for every day use then the Spax should do you fine. There are many other competitive brands and remember... at the end of the day you pay for what you get. If you were going to be using the car on track, etc... then I'd recommend for you to look into something a little "better" than Spax. But... for those people who would track slag their cars, they'd know that you only get quality if you pay the right price.

    Thanx Guys

Im lookin for a 40mm drop on my VTS and probally won't ever put the car on the track so wen I look the Spax look a good value for money option. If anyone else has got any other options for around a 40mm drop then I'll be very welcome :-)

    Thanx again guys

    Mine arrived yesterday 40mm too

  21. #21
    Mystic; they just springs?
    where'd you get them?
  22. #22
Yeh thats just springs to replace the 60mm ones iv got on atm. Got them from Motorsportworld I think you can get em cheaper elsewhere though. + I ordered them on the 2nd of october and thats them just arrived on the 30th

Whether it was there fault or not i dont know, they kept blaming spax and the couriers but at least they replied promptly to all my enquiries!
  23. #23
whacking your suspension kit to the hardest setting is just stupid you should only use it on smooth flat tarmac! the sifter ish setting for bumpy roads
  24. #24
Im looking in to getting a -60mm vsx kit for my vts but cant decide wether its worth the extra £100 for the psx kit with adjustable dampers, what you lot think?

Also for you people that have got the psx kit, does it include the acctual shock absorber housing like pictured or just the damper to fit inside the origional unit? Also where is the adjuster for the front shocks?

Heres a pic of my vts on -60mm spax psx kit

  27. #27
where did every one get there kits from?

Im in kent and i tried a local shop and they said 2 weeks waiting n demon tweaks say it will take 3 weeks for the kit to arrive!! I dont want to wait that long.

Spax are a good brand, and they have been around for years... Used to have Spax fully adjustable kit on my old Ford Capri 2.0 Laser... Couldnt fault them. Just make sure you change the shocks too, not worth just changing the springs.

Rite i got my kit two weeks ago and fitted it all adjusted the torsion bar to about 65mm and im not very impressed to be honest. Feels worse than standard. The fronts stiffened up really well and am pleased with that (set on softest) but the rear also set on softest feels like theres no dampers fitted at all! just bounces and bounces. Ive now changed the setting to maximum on the rear and its still softer than a standard damper! Has anyone else noticed this or could it be ive got dodgey dampers?
  30. #30
it's boucing because it's hitting the bumpstops. either fit shortened dampers or raise the suspension
  31. #31
try set it too maximum stiffness to try stop hitting bunpstops
  32. #32
Yes i know its hitting the bump stops but the dampers arnt doing a lot to slow down the rebound so it just keeps bouncing. They are on maximum now what has stopped the bouncing but it is still easier to push the back down than my mates standard saxo. Seems like a big waste of money if when they are set to maximum its still softer than standard shocks.
