Where are all the experts tonight? Have they possibly got a social life
  3. #3
    vts 3 bar, vtr 3.5bar
  4. #4
    Cheers mate.

    I'm now screwed
  5. #5
    whys that?
  6. #6
I was told that my car was running leen hence the lack of power the reason for this was my lower rated vtr pump and the solution was to upgrade to a 3.5 bar vts pump.

Maybe my current vtr pump is just knackered.
  7. #7
get a 4 bar one from gmc steve
  8. #8
Have you got one Ste? how much ?
  9. #9
my bad its a 4.5 bar fpr and it says from 58 quid

it gives you good insight into them on gmc's site aswell will be a good little thing to have once the cat cams are in

    clicky

a little bit of light reading for you its in the engine section under fuel systems
  10. #10
Good man Mr Vtr I'll get stuck into that now.
  11. #11
I've just been offered a Fuel pressure regulator do you think this will solve my fuelling woes or should I stick with the pump idea?
  12. #12
I've also just read that early vtr's like mine run 3 bar and the mk2 vtrs run 3.5bar....

So to conclude I think if I were to get my hands on a mk2 vtr 3.5 bar pump and run it along side 4.5 FPR I'd be laughing.

Is there a way of identifying if the fuel pump is 3.5bar just by looking at it or is that wishful thinking?

Does anyone disagree with this theory?
  13. #13
he's asking what the fuel pump runs at, and as the standard vtr fpr is 3.5 bar and vts is 3 bar it will supply a higher rate.

hold on mate, these posts are confusing me, do you want to know the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator? these are 2 completely different things.
  14. #14
oh, and why do you need to know? have you got idle/running problems?

and early vtr's have 3.5 bar fpr.
  15. #15
    Williams I will start again......

I took my car for a rolling road session and it was having major problems making any real power as it was running really leen.

The bloke said that vtr fuel pumps (Which I'm currently using) run less rate (bar) than vts pumps.

Since then I have tried to find out what each pump actually runs but have got nothing but conflicting advice.

A FPR regulator was suggested along the way of trying to find out about the pumps....

So what I'm trying to figure out is what pump shall I get and is it worth getting a FPR aswell.

Does that make abit more sense?

    Cheers

    Steve

I've just noticed you sig about PM for spares can you get low mile 3.5 fuel pumps?
  16. #16
the pumps will run higher rate than the fpr anyway to keep a constand supply. i wouldnt say it was becasue you using a vtr pump with a vts engine. if thast what your doing.
if you tell me what model car you want the pump off i'll get you a price.
  17. #17
Well the FPR I was going for was a 4.5bar GMC one?

just come across this mate,it might be some use to you http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MOTORSPORT-FUE...QQcmdZViewItem
  20. #20
Fuck me!....lol.... theres a huge conflict here... I will check autodata
  21. #21
does it have the pump rates on autodata?
  22. #22
God knows whats going on Mr Beefy and I'd look on Autodata if someone give me my disk back
  23. #23
    2000-03 vtr (NFT TU514/l4):
    Pump = 3.0 bar
system (without vaccum) = 2.5 bar
regulated pressure with vaccum = 2.0 bar

    1996-00 vtr (NFZ TU5JP BVA):
    As above

    1996-00 vtr (NFZ TU5JP/L3):
    As above

It has no data for the 16v fuel system other than the electrical ohm's for the injectors and pump... but as you can see out 3 types of VTR engine the stats are the same... this is from Autodata (the program used by most garages whilst working on cars) its accuracy is debatable as mine is from a couple of years ago but take you want from it
  24. #24
    checked autodata
    a 90 bhp vtr is 3 bar
    a 98 bhp vtr is 3 bar
a vts is , hhhmm, it doesnt have it on autodata?????
  25. #25
So is this another urban myth that vtr's have 3.5 bar pump? kind of like the gti engines have 6 more hp than a vts lol.... at the moment the fpr should run between 2.0 and 2.5bar, the GMC one runs at 4.5bar so there will be nearly double fuelling of your current one at the top end if the ratio's are the same?... is that right?
  26. #26
the vtrs have a 3.5 bar fpr, it has it etched into them. i think people will be getting mixed up. it gets confusing
  27. #27
lol... that sounds about right... anywho steve its not your pump... fpr or pbv will sort it out
  28. #28
Ok so I'll slash some cash on an FPR.
