My car is going in for its first power run on friday morning, Since getting mods installed.

Just wondering if theres anything i need to do in preparation for this oil checks etc

    thanks

It wouldn't hurt as the car takes abit of a caining mine bounced off the limiter in 5th gear.

Just give it the once over to make sure everythings in one piece.

i may have to explain that the car is without a limiter so the highest they can take it is 7000 rpm cause it will goto 8000rpm+ and dont really want it going this high.

Have you ever ran your car on 97ron fuel or above super unleaded etc as i was reading a article in a magazine that it can help protect the engine under strain and also increase bhp fiquires

I have used optimax in the past but I dont use it regular although I try to fill up at Shell rather than any old garage.

It would make next to no difference on your car, I watched a programme where they tested it out on various Impreza's and it only made marginal gains on a highly tuned one.

In saying that though it can only help matters but I'm not sure if its worth the extra expense.

Ok mate thanks for the info ill probably give her a full tank of the super stuff mainly for protection purpose's.

    It cant hurt anything mate

Would'nt really worry to much about the limiter as to my belief they should lift of the throttle as soon as the power starts to tail of which should be before 8K

As for 97 ron my car returns better MPG and performs a little better two.

Also who is doing your power runs as i need mine setting up shortly.

Hi mate good to see another middlesbrough person on here, im getting the power run down at teeside motor factors its mainly to see what fiquires i get now cause it will be going in for a new ecu map at automark as soon as i get around to booking it in.

why have you not got a limiter? i thought you got your car mapped a while ago?
i always use v-power fuel in mine aswell, 99RON

No its got a eprom chip mate with a map on it, its still to have a proper map done on it just taking it down to see what im getting now out of interest really. Just waiting for a slot to come at automark then i will be getting it all done properly.

Not quite sure i knew the chip altered the limiter but it doesnt seem to come in at any point and will rev all the way upto 8k wich i cant imagine been healthy

isnt the peak like 5,600 in a VTR; so anything after is pointless?
  12. #12
Its cammed mate so it comes in 2500rpm and power range doesnt fade till 6500rpm at least thats the fiquires the came with
  13. #13
oh right; what cam is it?
  14. #14
Ok took the car down this morning filled her up with a tank of super unleaded and drop it off, previously to going here i was warned that motor factors under score cars a mate of myn said he knew someone who had a civic vti had done alot of work to it and teeside motor factors scored it 140bhp wich the standard on vti is 160 or someting like that nether the less i thought i would still try myn there and suprise suprise they put it down on its standard power by 10bhp, wich really is impossible for the car to score this low 80bhp at the flywheel is pityful just driving the car you know this is impossible for it to score this low

Heres where the mods stand at

    Piper 285 cam shaft
    Bmc induction kit
    4-2-1 stainless manifold
full stainless exhaust system with decat
and has had a eprom chip fitted to the ecu when i purchased a new one with incresed limiter and remapped fuel and ignition

so i am now going to have to try and find another place who know how to use there equipment properly
  15. #15
hmm this eprom chip would most likely be mapped for a standard car though not your car with that cam so power could be down in theory but i doubt it would be down that much
  16. #16
Yeah i know it needs a new map but still i feel like screaming lol. cheers for the comments its definately going in for a custom map now and a new rolling road run just cant get in the bloody garage quick enough the next empty space they have is 9 of december
  17. #17
you sure that isnt at the wheels?
  18. #18
Posistive mate he said we scored it at 80bhp at the flywheel, it was a bit unprofessional to be honest i didnt even get a printout or anything just a daft receipt, so ill be getting the car on the diagnostics next week to find out why or what is wrong with it if it doesnt come up with anything ill have to put down to the eprom chip and get a proper map done on it
