1.1i arch trimming

  1. #1
I haver 15's on my base model saxo and when i have more than 1 person in the back, the lip on the inner rear arch makes contact with the tyre. The car isn't lowered at all and i understand that this is only aproblem on base model saxo's not VTR/S's and so on.

So does anyone know the best way to sort it? So that i can then lower the car!

    cut the arches.

what size are your alloys cozb on my 1.1 it doesnt look like theres much room to fit wide wheels on coz i want to get some alloys for mine but dont know what size to get width wise

I'm gonna try 6.5x15's on mine when i have funds, 185 tyre width, dunno if they rub. The 195 width i expect will defo rub without arch work.

I had 195/45 size 15's on my saxo and I had to get my arches rolled! They rolled on the outside arches but if a lot of weight was put on they actually rubbed a little on the inside too. As long as you don't put fat bastards on the back you should be fine!

I have the correct tyre width i think, Thing is it's only a tiny pecie sticking in from the arch that makes cnotact so would seam stupid giong to a garage and paying 30 odd quid to get them to cut the that 5mm thick peice of metal. Any more ideas?

    DIY?

hammer could do a good job, might neet to heat up paintwork first though or paint will crack. unless you trim it down yourself but don't forget to treat the bare metal.

the reason u have this problem is because of the lip the vtr and vts don't have it.

to solve ure problem cut the lip away with tin snips or something similar but remember to seale and then re- paint the area u've cut other wise it will rust in no time

ok. but what on earth are tin snips?

I have "rolled" them myself in about 20 minutes and then protected them with anti-rust paint. I didn't cut lip out. It is much easier to hammer it with body. I have 195/50/15 on my 1.1i MK2 Saxo. Also lowered 40 mm. It rubs with 4 persons in the car if I go over a bump on the road. If road is OK then no rubbing at all. But now I am trying to find original VT arches and side skirts to put them on.
