i'd been after a street specials centre console for a while, but the price, and the fact I just couldnt get hold of one anywhere soon put stop to that. so here i've tried to make a similar version.
so, a visit to the scrappy got me my centre console to work on. next, a trip to halfords for the fibre glass, and filler and then the kitchen cupboard for an old cereal box, and i was away!
i've got a couple of progress pics on my phone, but cant upload them at the moment.
after lots of swear words and cut knuckles, the wrestle with the air vent was worth it and out she popped.
i then used the cardboard to cut the shape of the hole where the vent was and after much fine trimming began to fibreglass it. (i'm aware this maybe isnt very professional, but i didnt know how else to do it! having never really used fibre glass before, i'm well chuffed with the results!)
after several layers of fibre glass i was able to start smoothing over with filler. lots of wet and dry later i'd got rid of all the pinholes and divets and its now lovely and smooth and ready to spray.
although the edges, especially on the right, look a bit scruffy, it is perfectly smooth and flush.
what do you think? while the street specials one may look a lot better, i'm really pleased with this as its my own work.

oh, and by the way, I do have a full hand of fingers before somebody says it!
