AIr filter Box + pipe

  1. #1
    hey

If I fit a larger peice of tube to the air feed from the front of my bonnet, will that increase the power slightly? As I follow the tube back towards the air filter box, the pipes gets norrower where the fixing is, if I replace that part with larger diamater pipe, will this incease the airflow a bit?

I was also wondering insted, if I drilled 2 smallish holes in just behind the smaller pipe (towards air box), if that would allow more air to get through quicker insted and cut out the need og replacing the small pipe.

    Thanks for any help.

you could use a bigger pipe but wouldn't make that much difference. i would get a Green Enclosed or a BMC.

So you think that if I fit a bigger pipe and then a better filter, save a green cotton one, maybe a K&N? Then ill get a bit more power? Say 3ish bhp?

Do you think this would add a bit of bhp?

or maybe this bit cheaper max power one?

I doubt you'll gain any bhp, specialy on a 1.1

Your looking at 200£ air filters to increase bhp, but that will only be about 1 or 2bhp (somebody correct me if im wrong).

them type of filters will more then ;likely make you lose power these are called open filters and are mainly there for noise

to gain bhp(if any) you would need an enclosed air filter along the lines of a bmc will do fine or maybe leaving standard 1 on and putting in a pannel filter

dont expect anything on a 1.1 im afraid

ok thanks, so you think if I get a wider intake pipe where the narrow one is and replace the stock filter with a better panel one then that would prob be the best I can do for it?

you would loose the low range power by fitting a larger pipe but gain top end power but its not worth it

again i cant see it making any diffrence as the engine will only suck as much air as it wants
you would just be giving it more air to chose from (if that makes sense)

    its worth a try though

ok, I think I can get a cheap piece of pipe from B&Q that will prob fot, so ill look into that and then maybe a better filter than what is already in it and suppose i should leave it at that then.

that will do fine mate its worth a try with the pipe

but waste your money on beer and cheep hookers then an air filter

lol okie, ill look into the pipe on mon/ tues and let you all know if i notice any difference. Ill use the rest of my money for petrol for now lol.

So you have a K an N, have you tired fitting it? And its too big for the Throttle Bodie?

Tried hose clips? Your question was a bit vague.

sorry to put a downer on everything but there is no point in trying to add bhp to a 1.1 as it will cost loads for next to no gain.

but you could spend that money on making it look better .
get some nice wheels on t maybe a decent sound system and you laffing

    Holy crap on thread digup!!?

Oh, and the only thing depending on what filter you get is better throttle response. I've polished my TB and ave a green enclosed fitted. Throttle response more noticable to what it used to be - only the next RR day will show if BHP has gone up - very much doubt it though tbh...
