    Hey Ppl,

I have bought the above and am just wondering how much bhp would i be looking at from this on my 98 saxo VTS ? I have a induction kit as well.

    Regards,

I couldn't put a figure on it but it'll be loads more responsive and will work well with any others mods you may have planned.

Its a good setup I have one on the way

depends what induction kit you got... really

a k&n, it will prob add 3-5 bhp.
  5. #5
Can any one help me ??

Say about 130bhp but thats quite generous for an exhaust and filter.

add a 4-2-1 or 4-1 to ur list and you will make the figures evan higher!

filter wont make much difference in the slightest. In your mind it may feel like 5bhp but probably not.
A magnex with a decat may free up a couple of bhp. But nothing to ring Max Power about.

Plus remember the fact that the chances of your car being exactly 120bhp as it stands now are slim. Your talking still near the 120bhp mark.

Damn dont I sound negative, sorry mate! Tis the true though.

I think your right though Rushy the power comes with other mods but it will a difference never the less.

All this talk of filters adding 10bhp etc is just marketing.

I dont know if im right really Steve lol just trying to be realistic lol.

I think power from your mods only come when the car is remapped. Only then are you making your uprated exhaust and filter opperate at there best.

Think about it, you can install a new graphics card into a PC, but you have to install the drivers first before it will run properly.

I mentioned a while ago I blasted another VTS, this was only due to the fact my car must of been way lighter than his VTS (all the crap ive removed and lighter wheels). Nothing to do with the mods on either car whatever they were!

People may disagree which is fair enough. But it make sense when you think about it.

    I agree with you.

I thought I had a good setup but it turns out my fuelling let me down, no one ever mentions things like that when there adding 5 or 10bhp filters onto a ten year old car.

Rushy_23 - I never said it would get 5bhp, this is what i was told from where i purchased it, i am expecting 2 maybe 3 at a push.

I guess i know what you mean, but i thought a de-cat and straight through exhaust will free up alot more bhp than 2 or 3 ?? I got 15bhp +/- when i did it on my focus, but i guess this varies depending on the car + mods ?? I thought it would be better than that tho !

Any other guesses as to figures then ? 122/125/128/130/135 + ??

If its an open filter... rather than enclosed its probs taking in more hot air that wont help

The k&n will do next to nothing apart from make it sound nicer, but could make you lose power as its open and not enclosed.

The exhaust and de-cat expect about 3-5 at the very most.

Sorry mate didnt want it to sound like that. Its possible to of freed up about 5bhp. But you never know tbh. We could all say its running 125bhp, but its possible thats its slightly more or a lot less due to loss of bhp.

Should feel nicer with the mods though.

    Filter
    Exhuast (inc decat)
    Manifold

Next would most likely be headwork, or cams + remap. Either way you look at it its going to cost a bit.
