Second hand remap?

  1. #1
I've been offered some Kent Cams pt51's and a 3 plug remapped Ecu.

Would the remap be any use as it wasn't actually mapped on my car, I dont want to shell out for this ecu if I'm going to need another remap?

    Cheers

    Steve

This has appeared on SSC but I wanted to here some of Sax P's resident experts opinions.

it would be of of use yes mate and would probably go well with your car!, but i would only buy it on the condition iwas gonna get another remap sometime in the future. its just that with it being mapped to another car, i will giive similar gains but may not give "max power" output for your particular car. id go for it! but only as a temporary option and then get yours mapped to your car when you got the cash m8

Thats an expesive option though as its not like I'm getting the ECU for free, so it would be like me paying for two remaps.

just get the cams and map your ecu its the logical thing to do, but for sake of it y not just fit the cams first and see how well the other ecu runs, if its shite just get your original one done. doest take long to fit an ecu!

firstly, i thought you bought those cats?
secondly, how much is the ecu?
thirdly, as spencer says you and the seller really want to be running the same mods for the transfer, ie filter, zorst etc and even then it will prob need tweaking. might be worth giving chipwizards a ring

other option i think you should get a standolone anyway, options to tb it,

The cat cams deal fell through Bullit

The tweeking might be a good idea and the cars are the same spec but his is of higher quality than mine.

    KMS group buy then Bullit?

chipwizards charge by the hour for a 'tweek'. remember though, even if you get this ecu you will still need your cam timing set properly. + you will either need the ecu unlocked or get the chip swapped. £50 for chip swap at chipwizards.

Cheers Williams and I'll have to cross the unlocking issue but £50 seems ok.
