i know its been covered prob a thousand times but ive got a MK1 silver top VTR (well done an engine conversion because it was a 1.0). .anyway was just wondering what the best Cam was to get for best gains really..ive got a 4-1 manifold..de-cat..induction kit and straight through exhaust atm just looking at a cam for now to give it an extra boost! also would i have to buy a new ECU or could i just get my standard remapped? i have a new one that hasnt been set up or fitted yet cuz needed it unlocking for the imobiliser! or any chips etc to go for? any help appreciated! cheers

Piper 285 cam - GMC motorsport

You can get your standard ECU remapped for about £450, wayne @ Chipwizzards

but for the price of cam and rempa you could get a vts conversion

    meaning more bhp per £

True, but some people cant be bothered with the hassle or cant get insured on a VTS, Or thats how i see it anyway otherwise why not just buy a vts in the first place or sell the vtr and buy one now

you will be best off getting it re-mapped and a Piper 285 as Josh suggested, thats gonna set you back nearly £700 though matey! and the gains won't be 'massive' so to speak with it being a single cam engine, but they will deffo be noticable, and from your description thats what you want, noticable power!
