  1. #1
does any1 no what gearbox will fit a vts apart from the vts box
  2. #2
    any 1 no
  3. #3
    fine.........
  4. #4
any saxo gearbox will fit, and you might want to wait more then 5 minutes before spitting your dummy out
  5. #5
impatient girl.. is the vtr box not crap
  6. #6
no it isn't 'crap' although the final drive isn't ideal for use in a vts, but it will fit.
  7. #7
wat would it be like with a 1.1 box
  8. #8
slightly quicker but it would scream a bit more higher up the rev range (on motorways etc)
  9. #9
thats ok . no motor ways were i live . will it make it much quicker. cause thats the 1 i bought . of a 1.1 pug 106
  10. #10
but, 5th is slightly longer on the 1.1 box. as it is more of an economy box rather than a sports box. they also have a smaller diff in.
  11. #11
so a 1.1 box is a good choice if im not doing long journeys . will it fit straight on
  12. #12
yes it will fit straight on. and yes it will be fine to use, even on motorways as it has a longer 5th gear so would be better on fuel in 5th.
  13. #13
    ok thanks
ill let u no how it goes

i think different about, as you might know iv hod an engine conversion from a 1.1 to a 106 gti, and my car drinks petrol in all gears, so im gettin rid of it and puttin a vts/gti box in im usin about 60/70 quid a week! a full tank goin 2 southend and back !

what revs are you at in 5th @ 70mph?

how many miles a week you doing mate?a vts is going to drink way more than a 1.1 anyway so most of it could be down to that and a possible heavy right foot
  18. #18
1.1 5th is longer than vts. rest are shorter.

agree with stevtr, your probably driving too hard. btw, how many m,iles do you get to a tank?

Ever seen a 1.1i do a 1/4 mile in 15.8 sec LOOK AT MINE
    my 1.1 is 152bhp
  19. #19
atm i get 170 miles to a full tank lol how bad is that

i must admit im a bit heavy on the right foot and i dont knw wat revs im doin at 70 cuz i normaly stick to 100 - 110 all the way down 2 south end, ov not through the average speed!

while im on hear any of you guys know where i can buy a light and balanced fly wheel, so when i change my gear box im gonna add that aswell cheers

dono what mine is i havent rolling road yet but i think its about 140bhp IF the standard gti's are 120
  21. #21
no way that petrol consumption has anything to do with the 1.1 box. the difference in them isnt big enough to notice. probably more to do with you doing 100 on the motorways.

I usually use VTS boxes with my engine, but the last time it blew I couldnt get a vts box quick enough, so I fitted a 1.1 box.

It does feel a little different... I'll have to get the ratios out to confirm. On track it doesnt seem quite as fruity? Seem to remember 3rd gear seeming shorter. (could all be but 3rd is the one that stuck in my mind)... but that was just before I sheared a drivesahft
