Race clutch???

    Hi
My clutch is slipping more and more each day and I really need to get a new one...

Has anyone got an EBC clutch??
    I’ve spotted these two...

Does anyone know if the 1st one (£64) is better than the standard VTS clutch and is it worth paying a bit more for the race one??
Has anyone got a race clutch?
    What’s it like?
    Is it stiff?
    Jerky?
    Make you go quicker?
Does anyone know of any other clutch’s that aren’t too expensive but are better than standard?

All responses will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks

lol@ race clutch. would help if you mentioned how tuned your engine is, but you don't be needing a helix/AP paddle clutch unless running turbo/supercharger. if your car is standard or even mildly breathed on (filter and exhaust) then standard clutch is fine.

Lol! You know what I mean?? Nah no turbo or supercharger although nitrous could be a possibility in the future so if I’m putting a new clutch in I might as well put one in that’s better than standard!?
What clutch have you got? I obviously don’t need a helix I’m just after something that’s not too expensive and that’s not ridiculously stiff just something a bit more aggressive than standard that engages better if you know what I mean?

To answer you question. The "EBC" clutchs are good. And thats not a bad price.

i got an ebc clutch and it only lasted 4000 miles before it discintegrated! was sitting on the m1 at 80mph and it just went!

i will be running cams, p/p head, all the relevant breathing mods etc. bout 160bhp. my clutch is pretty bad now and am gonna get a new one for x-mas. would uprated be the better option?

dont you need some kinda competition clutch (CampDavid) for a 150bhp+ monster?

    Hi
Was that the Cheaper EBC (£64) or the more expensive (£124) one? And does anyone know the difference between the two?

I think with all your 160 galloping stallions you will need stronger diaphragm springs and a good quality friction plate to take all that extra torque
I’m guessing that the race one will have stronger diaphragm springs, a better friction material and stiffer damping springs which should make the changes a bit more jerky? but I’m thinking that the stiffer the damping springs the quicker the friction plate will wear?
What was yours like compared to stock? Stiffer? More jerky?

I’m just after something a bit more jerky and stiff than stock but I don’t want to spend too much and I don’t want too jerky or stiff if you know what I mean?

if they are they are good,my m8 had 1 in his 106 gti it was running a remap full stainless exhaust filter cams etc it was often on the track and the clutch took alot of abuse for near to 2 years of mostly take off's,i had 1 in nova i had a while back which was a turbo it lasted as long as i had the car and took alot of abuse this is why i keep mentioning them!

they can only handle 20% more torque

This is an interesting thread and a half..

Firstly if you have tuned your engine dont think the Black Diamond or EBC clutches will work wonders and allow you much higher RPM take offs and take the power without slipping.

These clutches do provide better grip and allow more torque to be applied successfully BUT if you have done alot of tunning work to your engine you really should be spending £400-£500 on Helix or AP racing clutches.

At the end of the day the clutch is one of the most important parts of the engine, its the 1 main thing getting your power from the engine to your wheels.

In terms of how would a black diamond or EBC feel. Not a lot different to your standard on the pedal or when gripping
