1.8 Vts

  1. #1
Right... I have hear of some of these infamous engines knocking about, basically a VTS with custom internals and a stroker kit to bore the CC out to 1.8. Does anybody know much about them?... i.e. reliability, power output, cost (expensive though as the crank is about £1k plus tax but what about the rest?) etc... anybody ever done this and turbo'd it?.... any knowlege you have no matter how small would be useful

Where did you dig this one from?
  3. #3
Its just heresay at the mo... but I know they exist!... just nobody realy seems to know alot about them as they probably don't last long.... its very expensive to do but is always possible to go up a few cc with custom internals

someone on here spoke to John at gmc about a stroker kit, can't for the life of me remember who is was though. maybe try gmc?

I'm not doing it (I don't think) I'd just like to know more about it... I've not got enough money to put petrol in at the mo let alone do something stupid lol

only person i know of was a chap in denmark on ssc

I know you can increase the cc of your engine by modifying the head (not much tho), Changing the stroke so the pistons have more travel, and boring the block. But if you change the stroke, the compression will raise, which is not what you want for a turbo. Also, you will need new pistons and rings if boring the block. If you do get new pistons, you nay aswell try and get some dished ones, again to get more CC, but also to help lower the compression a bit.

on the renault sport forum some guy undertook a clio sport round a bend at 7-mph in a VTR with a Xsara VTS lump.
(either that or the Clio driver was embarrassed that he got done over by a Sax)

i looked into the 2ltr but too much work plus the cost,i bought a VTS instead and ccoooooooorrrrrreeeeeeee its a beauty lol

I heard of boring the TU out to 1599cc by 1mm oversize pistons and a re-ground block. Alot of money though.

But stroking it further with special pistons and longer rods, not to mention a different crank and a reground block is gonna be mega money.

I know the HKS stoker kit for Pulsar's is about £3000.

Fuck this xsara vts malarkey, the saxo vts is good for 300bhp+ how much more do you people want.
  19. #19
just cuirous wether there were any about at the mo.... I know its stupid money so there wou;dn't be that many lol
  20. #20
could u not bore a vts to say 1680cc or 1740 like they use to do with ford
    1600 x/flow engines

Increasing the Bore and Stroke is possible on all engines, but I heard the internals of the Saxo VTS (TU engine) are not strong enough to do this.

A 1.7 16v at least would be nice!

Something to do with thin walls or something stupid. Cant remember off the top of my head.

Yes this is where the cost is incurred.... it has been done... I just don't know how many times, where, who, what etc lol
  23. #23
yeah gmc do a stroker kit, iirc noone has had one off them. pm him on ssc,
  24. #24
i heard gmc do them but they have told people that enquired about it that its cheaper to charge it.. you can only bore the cylinders out slightly before you hit the water jackets ive been told...

Pluss the walls are fairly thin anyway

yea, would be a bit of a risk to try and take it out that far id say..
