Manifold=more power?

  1. #1
Would you get a noticeable power gain from a manifold and which one would you recommend?
  2. #2
    superchipped?

    raceland 4-2-1 manifold

    gmc 4-1

take that filter off and get an enclosed one

decat is a simple mod only takes 20mins if that to swap mot time
  5. #5
to be honest mate i agree with paul, get a decat one and just swap it for the mot...But I wouldnt go and buy a enclosed filter, until you have tried one on your car and think its worth the extra money.... maybe try a mates first, because there is no proven theory there better for power gains, just a lot of talk....

    Up to you thou mate

Does the de-cat need to be the same width as the cat-back system?
  7. #7
A de-cat will fit, dont ask me the measurements of it lol but i can garentee it will fit, it uses an 'O' clamp to join onto your Piper and 2 bolts for manifold side..
  8. #8
How much work is it to fit the manifold?

Phipps Nice motor. Plain and simple with nice engine mods. Its the way!
  9. #9
get rid of the chip mate, all they do is advacne the ignition timing and aren't very accurate either. its more guess work with superchips than remapping.

if you look on the forum you will see loads of threads about manifolds and the effects of them, HERES ONE<<Click and take a look!

Superchips aren't as bad as most people actually make them out to be, there are other, some may say better, options. But the superchip helps to eliminate annoying traits such as hesitation and poor throttle response, that can occur on computer-controlled cars, are eliminated making the car more lively and responsive. This makes in-town driving a pleasure, requiring less gear changing with a smooth and progressive engine response.

S34MER Thanks for that, some well good stuff on that thread. Definately helpful. From the general responses Im guessin a 4-2-1 is in order...

williamsvts Theres better acceleration when I put my foot right down but that could just be the exhaust maybe?
  13. #13
deffo a 4-2-1 for what your wanting imo!
  14. #14
Just been looking on GMCs website, seems they only do 4-1 manifolds. Any suggestions?
  15. #15
GMC do a 4-2-1 aswell deffo!.... well they 'did' do one anyway!
  16. #16
    Maybe Im just bein blind

the raceland ones are significantly cheaper and people get good gains from them too.

iv never known gmc todo a 4-2-1 as if you raed on there site it explains all the diffrences between 4-2-1 and 4-1
  21. #21
They willd do both if you ask... and if you want to pay... infact they'll probably do anything you want for the right price
  22. #22

i have had a superchip before and they are bollocks, a complete waste of money. they dont give less gearchanges either, how can they do that??
if you get anything done to your ecu wait till you get cams and then get it mapped properly.
  24. #24
Im kinda in agreement with Williams on the Superchip thing
  25. #25
it isnt even a chip mate. its downloaded via the diagnostics port.
  26. #26
 You can still have the cars ECU reset
  27. #27
that wont put it back to standard though. you will need a standard map downloaded back onto it.
