Rear Brake options/recommendations

  1. #1
Im just in the process of cleaning up a VTS rear axle ready to go onto my car. Im wanting to change the disks and pads so theyre new and fresh for safety and piece of mind aswel as performance etc

Does anyone have any recommendations (Pads-least brake dust given off with best performance for reasonable price)

Which is best for the disks? Can i have bigger disks without changing calipers, if so, whats the limit?? Are grooved better than drilled or are they both great together.

Never really dabbled into the brakes area yet so id appreciate any good guidance on this one

    Many thanks in advance

rear brakes do very very little in terms of braking.

You cant up the size of the discs without either changing or spacing the caliper further out

As for grooved/drilled, with the little that the rear brakes do you wont notice an improvement however looks is entirely up to you

    not really worth rear upgrades

    mintex pads are good

Thanks for the advice so far Ill try rephrasing a little then to put more emphasis on the front brakes:

Again referring to the grooved/drilled bits, is there actually one thats better than the other? Perhaps the best thing for me to do then is replace disks to match the front ones looks wise if nothing else

    www.gmcmotorsport.co.uk

have a read of the braking section it explains why in their opinion grooves is better, not saying either is better than the other but drilled are more prone to cracking

ebay sell drilled and grooved for 40 a pair for the rear i reckon they are worht gettin if youre gonna get new disks just for the looks facotr of them as new standard disks wont be far from that especially from halfrauds etc

as for pads go for sum standard pads on the back mate anythin will do

you can get drilled and grooved for the same price as new dics nowadays.
as for pads id get Mintex they are spot on. as for brake dust Green Stuff or Red Stuff give off hardly any but they are w**k for braking.

i think that the braking ratio is something like 70% front and 30% rear
