re rear tints

anyone know what the law is about tinted rear lights??i,ve done mine and they look ok to me but people keep flashing me in the dark saying my lights are not on

If you've sprayed the standard items, you will have sprayed over the reflecter.
In which case, thats not legal.

Although, at night you say? Surely people can see you've got your lights on.
How many coats did you use?

it usually says how many layers to apply on the can, think its 3 layers, but i put 6 on and it passed MOT no problem, so you must have plastered them in the stuff! lol

S34MER - in your case then yes mate. but i had mint done and it was only one layer of paint/laquer and you couldn't see the reflectors and nearly got my car wrote off about 10 times so took them off.

best thing to do mate is to get some pictures up. if they are too dark its not worth it from the safety side of things(sorry to sound all "responsible")

this made me laugh mate, i thought of exactly the same thing when i had mine done. got some of those 12 bulb LED ones and didn't make a differnce at all.

this is what mine looked like when it was done before i had my boot done.

but you couldn't see the reflectors

so put some mk1's on instead

It is illegal to not have the reflector showing, the police will or should pull you for it.

it is mate, cause since i bought my rear morettes, the car failed, so i had to buy two adhesive reflectors for the boot!

just follow the instructions on the spray can and you will be fine. No where on the can does it say, "Not For Road Use!"

lol yeh then i just keep the tin in the car if i get pulled look officer it doesnt say it on the tin yep im definatly doin that the missus can give them puppy dog eyes lol

thanks for the replies,i should have mentioned it wasnt my vtr it was 420.what i,m doing now is driving with fogs on.the lenses were that dark it just looks like normal lights now

To have your rear fogs on though you need your fronts on, and the number of people i've heard paying out fines for that.

Personally I can't see how the fronts blind you as they're too low, but police need to earn a wage

How long did you leave the stick on reflectors on for after the m.o.t though?
