centre console in *pic*

ok, here's a quick picture i've just taken

you get the idea of it like this. you can see a slight inperfection in the filler just above the rear heated window button. it doesn't actually look as bad as it does in the picture (honest ). other than that, the filler is smooth and an alright job i think.

when i get some more time, i'll take it all back out and sort it out. but for a first time effort with fibre glass and filler i'm pleased with my results.

    what do you think?

I think that looks really smart tbh m8, i might even give it a shot now lol, well done m8

looks great can you see the gauges good or do they point up to much
  4. #4
Looks really smart mate. I bet your cold at this time of year though aint you...

thanks guys. i wasn't too sure what the feeling was going to be about it if i'm honest.

hessle, yeh that was what we spoke about before.
as it turns out, they're ok. im' not going to lie and say they point right at the driver, because they don't, but you can see the full face of the dial at a decent angle.
i'm also in bucket seats that are bolted straight on the subframes without the sliders so i sit a little lower than normal seats.
what i'm trying to say is, on standard seats you should get almost a perfect view of the dials.

edit: yeh i'm hoping we have a mild winter!
i was considering trying to make a small type of vent where the blank buttons are and re-route the air vent ducting thing to that point. after all the faffing about fitting the thing, i gave up and duck-taped the air vent thing up!

personally id try angle them a bit more towards the driver but if your happy thats all that matters

o nice little figure thingy to
  7. #7
i probably will do something with them in time. like i say, when i get round to taking it back out to sort out that little inperfection i'll have a crack at it.

yeh he's my little mascott! he's a little ginger dude with string legs and string arms that sits in the corner! he keeps me company lol

havent seen anyone do the center console so that the hot, cold air vent is sealed with gauges but that its left able to move front back...
    think that would be good....

just set your heaters to blow on the windscreen. you wont be any colder without the one blower in the middle. i dont even use them cos i dont like it blowing in my face.

So what are those gauges actually for, i mean like what are they reading?
  11. #11
    volts and vacuum.
i've already got water and oil temp on the a-pillar.

they are intended for styling as much as they are for information
  12. #12
were they easy to wire up?
  13. #13
    yes mate.
volt meter was a case of splicing into a positive wire and a negative wire.

same case for the vacuum gauge. i also had to t-piece into the vacuum hose to get the reading for that. a pipe then runs from the vacuum hose to the back of the vacuum gauge.

i'm gutted as well...spent hours washing the car yesterday. i was going to go to palm court car park and get some pictures under them bright lights they have. but its chucking it down now, so its living in the garage until the sun comes back out!

Looks great mate, I used to have a Nova with GTE clocks in it and hada oil pressure gauge used to love to watch go backwards and forward :-)

Imagin the vacuum meters the same.

    Nice alternative to pillar pod.

I like it,looks good.Stupid Question but whats that pic of a TV doing stuck onto the pic??
  20. #20
Looks nice, only problem I keep seeing because of the actual angle they are at it will be hard to see during the daytime on sunny days due to reflection on the glass and the angle. I personally like them on the pillar to the right between the window and steering wheel if you know where I mean or if I was to put it on the dash like you i'd make sure it was straight so you wound't face the problem with sunny/bright days!. Dont mean sounds negative just saying, looks smart .
  21. #21
    good first attemp that mate!
  22. #22
saxoladlesta what do you mean?! picture of a tv stuck there?! it IS actually there

spanair, the last couple of days have been sunny, and there's not been a problem with reflections. you can see the dials perfectly actually.

in the future though, i will be re-doing it so that they are angled more towards the driver. call it trial and error.
