Orange Light on dash?

Hi guys, Yesturday i was driving and an Orange light came up on my dash located near the right hand side of the dash.
I have topped up with new oil but its still there. It looks like it COULD be the gearbox oil but im not to sure on the orange symbol so it could be anything.
Any ideas to what it is and how i can get rid of it?

sounds like the engine management light mate, is it square like?

"sounds" like the Engine Management Light.

I dont think there is an oil indicator for gearbox oil.

Is the car doing anything it wasnt before, hesitating? stuttering using more petrol etc...

take the battery off and leave it 1/2 hr then put ti back on see if that turns it off, did you go through any big puddles before it came on

ScottP - The car seemed fine mate, i was just on a dual carridgeway when it came on. was doing about 70mph

Luke - No the oil light doesnt stay on, i just had it on the ignition.

Ok mate will do. Doesnt taking the battery off reset anything? IE ECU like it does on other cars?

yep its probly the ecu has recored a fault like the car sucking in a bit of water from big puddle etc,
then when you reset it it will clear and then if there is no problem it wont come back on, if it does then get it checked by pluggin it into diagnostics equip and find the fault.

it happened to me when i tried to drive through the incoming tide that floods the road to shell island in wales lol this sorted it out

and the light is def the engine management light, so if disconnectin the battery does work then take it to a garage asap

what diagnostic equipment do you have for the 300zx as most of them you buy a chip for the certain make but i dont think there cheap

theres a few places in hull what will do a diagnostic check for you

does the car feal any diffrent the lights on

I use a program called Datascan which is specially made for the 300zx, it plugs straight into a port under the drivers footwell.
Where in Hull mate? I Deffo Wont be going to that superchips place lol.

The car doesnt feel different at all. Like i said, i was doing about 70mph on a dual carridgewat when it came on, The roads where fine and dry.. I dont understand.

i take it you mean pioneer doug is alright iv never had a problem with him

theres quick clutch down albert avenue there a citroen specialist they have a doagnostic machine as i used to work there

He just did a poor job on the 300zx thats all mate.
I will have a look at this quick clutch at the weekend. What sort of price we looking at for them to diagnose it and how long?

Mine came on too really randomly too in the middle of the summer mate. The car wasnt doing ANYTHING out of the ordinary, and everything was topped up etc etc.

I kept an eye on it and left it bee for a week, and after 5 days it had gone off again, and hasn't come on since.

Hmm.. Would love to know what this is. Il just keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. Would a saxo book/manual say what this symbol means and how you can get it to go away?

No, the handbook just says "engine warning light - consult a citroen dealer as soon as possible" or something very similar. Theres no answers in there.

no the handbook would just say engine managment light

could be any sensor or electronic part in engine

mines has just come on too all of a sudden only had the car a couple days weird since the car has full mot which was done a week ago, took it to diagnostics cost £25 at a local garage guy resetted it the light went for a couple days now its back

bought car in manchester and i live nowhere near there so cant just go back, it did come with an AA warranty (not got docs yet)

worried its something serious the car feels normal nothing wrong at all ! pissed off about this got me depressed lol
