After a year of drivin your insurance should have dropped then take it from there. The 8v engine is a great little motor its a shame most people look straight past it in favour of the 16v.
In simple, play with it for a while then see what happens after a year of driving

Im sure cammedvtr got something like 122bhp from his VTR, iirc mods were manifold, induction kit, decat, straight through exhaust system, cams and a re-map! there may be something im missing but thats all i remember. so yes it can be done, nice to see someone doing something different though rather than ust dumping a VTS engine in there!
