    Just a quick question I have took the head off my 16v and it has adjustable pulleys i was just wondering do they come standard.

    ok, that answers the question, but with Millers permission, what say we open up the subject a little and now ask the question..................if the vts has adjustable cam pulleys as standard, what would the bennefit of a set of kent/piper/catcams pulleys be, and is it genuinely worth the £200??

    That’s true I was just thinking the same thing.

    Are they lighter or some thing, Which could enable them to rotate faster would be interesting to find out so if any one does no what major difference there is between the after market pulleys than the standard would be nice to no.

    not sure how adjustble both are id expect piper pully to be more adjustable

    they would both spin same speed

    I think aftermarket cam pulleys allow for slightly finer adjustment to cam timing over std. I have Catcams pulleys fitted to my vts, but the only reason I have is because one of my std pulleys (exhaust) snapped and I found a hair line crack in the inlet one. The catcams pulleys were only slightly more expensive than the oem ones so made the decision to go with them.

    they also tend to have timing /degree marks on them.

    Ok bit of the subject of the vts pulleys but i have just installed a piper vernier pulley to my vtr and as stated it has degree marks on with a option to advance\retard the cam timing. Now there is 4 allen bolts on this pulley im thinking if i loosen these off can i just advance or retard my cam timing either way or is it a little more difficult than this thanks.

    So meaning if i retard the cam timing it will come in lower in the rev range rather than just coming into its power range at 2500rpm thanks

    dunno about the 8vs mate. i would do it on a rolling road if your going to play with the cam timing.

    Is this a comon problem??

    so we've established that the aftermarket ones have incroment markings, and possibly several degrees more adjustment, but are they that much stronger to warrent the money? I mean, with a little care taken, one could mark up the standard ones, and in wich case the only benefit is now reduced to only 2 or 3 degrees extra adjustment.
