Which exhaust for that 'racey' sound?

   I've been looking around for a back-box to put on my VTR when I get it and was wondering which, if any, offers a real race car, high-pitched sound with not too much droney bass.

   you race karts?, ive got a Piper on my saxo, sounds pretty good.

   Yeah, I'm racing at clay pigeon next season in Rotax Max. Are you into that madness as well lol? I might try and get a listen to a piper, I've heard magnex's in the past and I just don't like the bassey sound, different strokes for different folks I guess.

   piper give an excellent sound, but go for a mongoose if you want that kind of sound.

   pugsport doesn't fit properly on the saxo, you want the omp group N full system.

   but as has already been disgusted it will need extensive modifications to get it to fit. Also the cut in the bumper wont line up with the tip...

    this is the one to go for, decatted straigh thru no silencers powerflow system and go for the small back box sort of oval shap but small. sounds the shit + even better with manifold and pops too, really crisp and raspy sound!

    As above really,
    
    A large tail pipe say like a Peco or sportex 4" jobbie will give a very loud 'boomy' note, a more performance based exhaust such as a Magnex or Janspeed etc around the 3" size will give a more suttal note but will get louder higher up the rev range, but for the true motorsport sound you really need a smaller tail pipe such as the OMP mentioned above.
    
    If your looking for the best sound and performance change the manifold 4-2-1 or 4-1 then either the OMP system or straight through to a small back box.
    
    Note the OMP will remove your cat where as a custom job can be fabricated from the cat back :-)

    as far as i'm led to believe the pugsport on a saxo doesnt fit without cutting and shutting, as if left the backbox would be practically in the wheelarch and the tailpipe would sit lower than the saxos.

    what's with the arguing? read my first post, i said it doesn't fit properly on the saxo, which it doesn't. personally i wouldn't spend a few hundred quid on an exhaust then cut it just to make it fit, it isn't a powerflow job is it? it's a proper motorsport exhaust. the omp one is as near to the pugsport as you'll get for the saxo so be as well to buy one that fits.

    ive got an exhaust.. it was already on when i bought it.
    
    looks shit.. sticks out too far.. oval and its one of the ones that comes out, then up towards the sky..

    but it sounds the dogs bollox ! despite this stupid fucking whistle sound it makes at very top end of the rev guage.
    ill find out tomoz if its only sound ur after.

    Sounds like a DTM style one? I want it to be reasonably discreet looking, no buckets for me lol but sound is the main factor as you usually get a choice of tail pipes.
