Unbolt where the seatbelt attaches to the floorpan (near the doorcard) with a 19mm spanner. Open the rear window and pull the window rubber up. The card should just then pull off from the bottom (by the door)

Have you checked that the window seal isn't just up a bit?

cheers mate no i haven't but need it off anyway just to dry it out!

What tool do i need to get front seats out? taking the carpet out to dry!

Think it's a T40 torque bit. It's a case of undoing the bolts on the sill first then the ones by your handbrake. Unclip the seatbelt pretensioner cable and out they come!

Halfords or a good motor factor should sort you out with a torque set for about a fiver!

they're in the parcel shelf support piece. at the rear like boot area.
  15. #15
right, souns liketherear quart window (happened to me but came in through the speaker)

also the rear screen could do with a check

check for watermarks running down the arch of the wheel on the inside of the car
  16. #16
ok, going to get out there in a sec just dijesting!
  17. #17
right am getting back out there! wish me luck!
  18. #18
got the card off was easy really, there isnt any water there which is dissopointing in a way, but there was water around the underside of the seal! think it is worth while taking seal off and siliconing it back on?
  19. #19
    yep, do that
  20. #20
right got the tools to pull the seats out, how do i go about pulling the carpet out? do i need to take the plastic from around the gearstick out? al be busy removing the seats then i will get back to you!
  21. #21
T40 for front seats and you need 17mm bolt to take off the rear seat belt bolt to take off the rear door cards which is held on with some pretty big clips! you taking all the carpet out? if so...take of the seal round the bottom of both doors, them pull off the clips holding the carpet down with a flat head, you will need to take off the centre console round the gearstick, take off the things that hold in the rear bench with a 10mm bolt, there is also to 1/2" bolts at the front just under the dash board (one next to bonnet release) one directly at other side. think thats it other than about 4 clips that just pull off near pedals and other footwell

btw that clip you posted is from the carpet in the boot

right all seats and stuff are out before i read this..... why take the seal around the doors off? and centre console out? only part stopping me getting it out is this!

the thing behind the pedal! is it ok to pull out? should it just pull out? it has too small holes in it!

I aint done anything since 3 but want to get the carpet out tonight! the underlay is soaked was falling apart when i pulled at it, the preivious owner must have had problems as the passenger side has been lifted in the past.... and the blck clips isnt from the boot as it already has different slightly bigger ones in....

if i need to get the centre console out how do i do this?

    cheers
  23. #23
    whats the rear bench?
  24. #24
after its all stripped i still need to find my leak haha, got a plan to see if its the sunroof was going to put some dy in some water and pour it on the roof..... then if the water in the car is that colour should answer my question!
there was water not loads lying around the rear passenger window under the seal!

i need to get seats back in before half 6, just the front ones!
  27. #27
it unscrewed! forced it out at first then tried unscrewing it and that worked!

got the carpet out, under the sound proofing...

    I found:
    Knife
    Blood
    Pen torch!

so the carpet is busy drying in the garage! now...

how do i get the sound proofing out?

should i cut it or take a load of time and pull it out carefully? which will meaning taking the console out around the gearstick and i have a multilock fitted aswel, which could also lead to where the leak is coming from.... you can tell someone has had problems with it in the past!
  28. #28
back and i am shattered! got the two front seats back in and went for a drive! i cut the underlay out! managed to stop it ripping it apart when lifted it out... no luck to see where the leak is coming from.... think its the front thought as when i was driving there was water running down..... if the splash guard behind the front wheel isnt in right can water get in?

sounds emense with no carpet.... no need for an amp or better speakers now.... they are loud as fuck! but i dont know how only pulled the carpet out lol

al report back when i get chance to locate my leak.... but for now am going rallye slag!

    It's the future mate
I took the shit shield out of gf's vtr when she had big wheels on and you get a load of crap up the inside of the door but nothing leaking in the car
  30. #30
got my silicone gun ready! everything will be getting done hehe! hope it rains! so if there is a puddle in there and i have not drove it then that means it isnt the arch and could be sunroof/ariel/ window seals!
  31. #31
right had a quick look before when i got in from work the is water coming in from the front somewhere! going to try locate it now!
  32. #32
right just been out and poured water on the sunroof trying to avoid getting it on the windscreen and anywhere else! used a kettle full and the water in the footwell as slowly started to increase.... so from the sunroof to somewhere there is a bust seal!

think al need to start taking the front pillars etc out next weekend!
  33. #33
since all this i have not had time to fix the leak, it does puddle up fast, so i think its either the sunroof or a gutter is blocked.... but atm i am focusing on getting my seeatbelts in. got rear door card back on now...

    but now this

    keep you updated!
  34. #34
balls.. i have the same problem!! just cant find the bloody leak, my splash guard on the passanger side wqas missing so replaced it and still comes through... oh by the way dont leave the spalsh guards out i need to have my door of and cleaned out the hinge is rusty as hell!!!
  35. #35
    3 year bump, nice.

    haha
  36. #36
3 year old thread bump is win, you do the right thing searching for thread relevent to your issue, however im sure there are a lot more recent ones!
  37. #37
lmao i just read the whole thread, thinking it was a new one! fail.
  38. #38
haha my leak turnout to be a small hole at the bottom of the front pillars.
Took the plastic off that goes down the windscreen and at dash height there was a hole in the middle of the weld, siliconed it and job was a good un.

Cars leaking like fuck in a scrap yard somewhere now.
Fun car though to say the least.
  39. #39
lol reading this thread, all n00bs once. Fish and chips ftw.
  40. #40
your car can;t leak half as much as my mrs new shit heap, it got body kitted and has no rear arch liners so the vents go straight thro to archs, u drive in the rain the car becomes a swimming pool. not to add previous owner alsop drilled so man holes in boot to drain water off it now leaks in. and now plugged up all of those and the bloody aerial and sunroof is leaking
  41. #41
Are there vents under the rear arches directly into the inner arches? I have water under my rear bench and wondering where its coming from.
