Fuel Pressure Regulator?

ok, i've read a little about these things an reckon its worth windin the pressure up a little - is this thing worth having or is there a better option?

    hope this works!

for the third time in as many days, nope! if you think it's worth winding the fuel pressure up then you obviously haven't been doing that much reading! you can't just pile more fuel in and expect the car to be faster, doesn't work like that unfortunately.

to get more power you need to add more air also. Simply piling in more fuel just makes it run rich at best.

althogh i have the following mods already do u still think it wont help....

    BMC Filter
    Kent Cams
    Superchip
    4-2-1 manifold
    de-cat+ straight through Magnex

first thing you need to be doing is binning the superchip and having the car properly mapped

^^agreed, but i dont wanna map it til i've fitted some decent cams. i have exchange cams on at the mo!

Fuel should be added in a measured amount at the points in the rev range where its needed only. An FPR cannot do this.

You'll only know whether you need it if you have a RR session where they can measure if the engine is running lean at any point on the power curve

i think the main reason i think i need one is sometimes when i come off the throttle from high revs right down to idle it cuts out now and again.

also if its just idling at traffic lights for example, it just dies. i'm sure its due to the fact that its been cammed. i think an FPR will stop this.

    correct me if i'm wrong

a vtr fpr (3.5bar) does give a slightly better idle.

i hear of ppl getting a 4.5 bar one. is it worth it?
  11. #11
You can't rise the fuel pressure so much. It's impossible to get 4,5 bar from fuel pressure regulator. Thats not real. The best you can get is about 0,4-0,6 bar rise.

I have a 4.5 FPR from GMC it did the trick for me I have no real harcore mods either.

    that is all!
