ive read a few threads on this but none are of help.

basically the vtr has been sitting for 5 weeks now awaiting repair, started repairs today and my airbag light is flashing.

it wasnt doing this before its been left sitting and i disconected all my stereo equipment before insurers checked it out.

just take the bulb easy repair
  5. #5
Just taken my bulb out. Took me all off about 10mins.
If you undo the steering wheel surround, Two torques screws underneath in white. Then the four torques screws, green lines.

Then there will be three torques screws behind that on the dials.
Undo them and then pull the dials out. I took all the wire bits off and completly removed the dials. Then it was the second bulb on the left facing you when you turn it round.
I had my steering wheel off which made life easier. Hope this helps buddy.

Hi i have the same problem my airbag light will not stop flashing. My MOT is due in 4 weeks so i need to stop it flashing before it goes in. I have check the connection under my seat and the the connection to the set belt tensioner and they seem ok i have pushed them together and sprayed wd40 on them. I tried to to do the above myself i undone the torque screws and tried to take out the plastic round the dials but i cant get it past the black box behind the steering wheel that the indicators etc and on to. I dont want to start undoing screws on that thing incase i can never put it back together again. Tried taking the original steering wheel off but i dont have a big enough driver to get the central torque screw out can anybody help on what to do next? I did even take the airbag out to ensure the wire was connected ok and it seems fine. I Put the airbag back into place but i did notice that the airbag seems softer than what i remebered it? It might just be me, but could that be a where the problem lies? U think the airbag in knackerd or should it be really firm? As i cant take the bulb out cos i cant get to it is there anybody on here who could help me out? Any advice would be great thankyou as im a novice :-)

I got my Saxo for my B-day last Thursday, since then I have had the same problem. All of the internal safety components are wired in the same loom and if one goes, the airbag light comes on. There's an orange wire and a little black, plastic connector under each seat for each seat belt pretensionor sensor. Sometimes they work themselves free and you just need to wiggle them back into place. Worked a charm for me. By the way all of the airbay controls and actuation bits and bobs are under the centre console, and it's often worth poking around there if above doesn't work. Hope you have some joy .

This thread is very old now so some of info is wrong.

Basically if your airbag light is flashing check all the connectors under the seats and if they are plugged in but light still flashes will have to get rid of the connectors and solder the wires together.

You can no longer just take the bulb out as it has to be seen to flash on when the ignition is turned on then go off. therefore... no bulb...no light... failed mot

    Yes it will!
Engine management lights are now a fail also.
New rules came in few months ago.
    Work at an mot garage.

Just had MOT and one of my failures was the air bag light! Last year it was an advisory but now it's a fail!
  23. #23
Not exactly news now. Read the post above yours, as from last year.
  24. #24
Yep regs changed earlier this year. Light remaining on indicating a fault is a fail now. Proving to be a massive pain in the arse for a lot of people
  25. #25
Shouldn't be a problem if the car is maintained properly.
  26. #26
You can now fail a MOT from a flashing airbag light I've just come from my MOT and I filed because of it.
  27. #27
So if I put bucket seats in an a aftermarket steering wheel how do I go about not having air bag light on but it being there?
Not meaning to still thread or anything lol just thought it was relevant to my querie
  28. #28
you put resistors on, the air bag wires one under each seat and one under drivers side dash, real simple
