Im planning on having a vts conversion done about february time but i want it quicker than a standard vts so will cams and a remap work well with a filter, manifold and full system? also what are the best cams to get with this spec?

You should se around 150-160 from cams, but choosing them is not an easy task, They have to suit your car and the way you drive it. Also what you drive it for e.g. track or road.

catcams 708s are a popular choice, i believe they are a 285 duration. which is long enough to see so some good power gains but still maintain the daily use factor.

oh its a bit lower than that already.....ye it will be a daily driver will probably never go on track. catcams then?

nope, 258 duration, a 285 duration cams in 16v engien will have either a very poor idle or a very high idle.

my vts has a gmc 4 branch fanimold, full exhaust with decat, ported throttle body, enclosed air filter, cat 708 cams and a remap, made 157bhp on the rollers, and laughs at standard vts, if that helps

    As stated:-
enclosed induction kit with nice cold air feed (very important)
    4-1 Manifold
Good Quality Exhaust (Supersprint do some good exhausts)
High lift Cams (708's are very good make very high peak power which suites the VTS)
Head ported (Get the head gas flowed so that you remove any obstruction to air flow)
Standalone management (such as a KMS)

But also remember braking, you will want some bigger discs and better pads (OMP do some good sized Group N ones and Ferodo DS2500 are great fast road pads)
