steering wheel vibration - help needed!

need some help from you guys

I have a vibration through the steering wheel when i get to about 65mph.

I have had the wheels balanced twice now and am certain its not down to this.

can anyone suggest any other possibilities?

car drives fine upto the 65mph mark and then it starts to shake. Would knackered link rods give this?

    anything else?

please help as this is really anoying

Wheels could be buckled! try getting the wheels balanced somewhere else, maybe even wheel bearings!

try wheels balanced, which are only about 2 - 5 quid per wheel and also try getting your tracking done if that doesnt work, you have to go to the dealer for this though

have u changed ur wheels? mine started doing it when i put bigger alloys on , i was told its normal tho because of the thinner tyres. it could also be the gearbox is knackered that can cause the steering wheel to vibrate.

well the place i got the wheels balance at i actually used to work at and i saw the guy do it and he did everything right and they were spot on when they came off the machine. I guess its a possibility that the calibration was off on the machine but seems unlikely.

I have evem had the wheels swaped back to front to see if this made any difference but it dosent.

The car has standard wheels with new dunlop sp01 tyres fitted. had tracking checked when they did the tyres and this was spot on also.

take it there is no play in the wheel when it off the ground as it could be the bushes

not checked that mate, which bushes do you mean?

I do have a 'pattering' type sound when i am driving over slight bumps, dont really hear it at speed but when driving through the estate. Thats why i wondered about the link rods/stabalizer bars. They do look ok but you cant allways be sure.

dont know if that would give the vibration i have though
