painting mk1 headlights black

  1. #1
after helping my bro paint the inserts on his fogs the other week it got me thinking, after looking closely a mk1 saxo also has plastic inserts in the headlights in a similar style to the fogs and as far as i know its not used for reflecting, therefore is it possible to paint them. i mean everyone has painted mk2 lights but i have never seen painted mk1 lights, just an idea anyway. if there are pics where someone has tried this then i would love to see.

    Many thanks
    James

ok i did a quick photoshop, to give a rough idea of what black lights and fogs would be like, also did the rims black. what do you guys reckon looks best, how it is or with the black

with the black mate. throw in some window tints for good measure
  14. #14
I would personally get some smoked angels
  15. #15

I like the smoked look but have also heard that its of no use for MOT's and cocks up the lights performance....this could all be shit though

That looks ace!! Is it hard to do? or just the same as the fogs?

Would putting a set of high performance bulbs in not solve that problem?

Dont think it messes your mot up or performance off the lights. Im deffo doing this when i get some money. Nick yours are lush fella

when i painted my bro's fogs the inserts didnt actually reflect any light, there is still the chrome reflector piece which is left unpainted. as you can see in this pic as long as they are left alone the performance of the lights shouldnt be affected.

thanks sean, and to answer everyones question, no it doesnt effect the performance as long as you use lacquer, as this will make them shiny and the light will be still as good as before. If u spray them matt black tho, performance will suffer

Never knew that about the matt black. Cheers Nickolarse
