exhaust flaming

  1. #1
right, this is going to sound really gay and i know alot of people are going to say "why would you want to do that" but at the end of the day its my car and i can do what i want so dont leave stupid comments

Ive got a VTS, raceland cold air intake, magnex de-cat and piper catback.

i had an exhaust flamer from my old car and decided to fit it to this as i was bored (basically a spark plug in the exhaust tip) it sparks fine and everything but im getting NO FLAMES WHATSOEVER.

Can anyone tell me why? im sure with the stuff ive done to the car plus the fact its a vts it should flame, shouldnt it? any help greatly appreciated and repped.

    Cheers

Basically I think you only get the flame when the engine is pushin more to the higher in off the rev range and then come off the throttle.

These kits work alot better on turbo'd cars. If your Really looking for flames then a 421 manifold.

the 4-1 manifold is coming from santa but ive seen other maybe smaller engined cars do the same thing without been turbo'd.

i meen if anyone knows the art of making it flame then help me out a bit

they probly have akit that dumps fuel from 1 cylinder into the zorst when you push the button but dont get 1 unless u want to fuck ure car up, failing that good old de-oderant cand and a lighter does good

I thought u had to over fuel it???

Sounds like you arnt getting any unburned fuel through your system maybe try making the car run a little leaner may help this hence more fuel going to the engine and a better chance of getting unburned fuel through your exhaust system also it probably works alot better when the car is hotter.

get a maniflod, that should help, mine flames when changing gear under full throttle and that with maniflod, fulll exhaust, filter, cams and remap, but ive seen them do this with just a manifold and exhaust

mine did it with just a decat and ful exhaust

Ive never done this or experienced it but i always thought on a naturally asperated engine you have to have a switch that will temporeraly take the spark from one of the cylinders in order to get the fuel/air in the exhaust. I dont really see how this could damage the engine at all? And i dont think it would be that hard to do

and yeh it does, well more of like 4 pops right together so like a rumble but it sounds like a pop

you prob wont like this the proper way is a remap but u could trick it into fueling a bit extra with 1 of them ebay resistors

basicly for a flamer kit to work you need unburt fuel in your exhaust gas for the spark plug to ignite, your car wil definatly need to be decatted adn the more tuned it is the more unburt fuel will be pushed out the back, there is a way that you can cut the coil out on a push of a button so that the spark stops and thus the mixture is pushed out the exhaust unburnt so then the flamer kit has unburnt fuel to ignite. I had a kit about 4 years ago and i made my own as i wanted big flames, basicly i got a 12v gas soilinoid valve and rigged a butane can up in the boot, then when i pushed a button the butane would flow through the 12v solinoid into the exhaust where the spark plug would ignite the butane, i could get huge 6ft flames

the lamda sensor will detect this and make it so the car runs normally again

i have heard you have to rev you car to 5000 rpm before igniting it, on a website that sells flame kits.

just an update, ive fiddled around with it and it flames every minute of trying, which obviously isnt enough when you try to get a flame for a minute, seems pointless. but it works so thats the main thing. im going to wait till the 4-1 manifold then see how it is.

thanks for your help anyway people
