Exhaust Help

  1. #1
Hello people. I'm fairly new to DIY modding, I've done a few small things to the car but nothing major. I am clueless about exhausts. About a month ago I bought a "universal" exhaust from MotorWorld for £70 took it to a local fitter who told me he could fit it but it would be coming out at a silly angle. So I took the exhaust back to Motorworld (within 10 mins) to exchange it for another one that would fit better but MotorWorld basically told me to piss off as it's "universal" fit. I then took it to another fitter who suggested I have it coming out centre exit... wasn't sure about it but it was about my last choice. After 2 hours and £99 to fit it my car rolled out looking pathetic!! I tried telling myself it would look ok when I had the cut-out from the standard exhaust filled in.
Anyway, here I am a month down the line, still ain't had the cut-out filled and the zorst looks pants! So I was wondering, can I move the exhaust over to the left by hand and just have it coming out at an angle or will it need cutting and welding?
Sorry for rambling on a bit.
Any help will be much appreciated!

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

depends on the angle of back box and how hes fitted it

you could try undoing the bolts and moving exhaust then tigtening

    have u got any pics

I tried to post a pic mate. I guess it didn't work again. lol

this is the best pic i have at the moment. Sorry
  5. #5
and you want that to stick out of the cut out
  6. #6
If it's possible... I know it looks shit but I'm skint. What else can i do? lol
  7. #7
well did you tell them to fit it there

as it looks like they have chope middle scetion when fixed a straight pipe to the back box and just fitted it there

theres no way you could get it the cut out without a new middle pipe or making a new bit of pipe so it bends towards cut out

i take it they removed spare wheel
  8. #8
    Yeah, they removed the spare.

So I'd best just take it somewhere and see what they can do?

    yeah thats only thing todo

i hope you have learnt not to buy custom
  10. #10
    Yup!

Dont ever buy a universal exhaust, they are pants. Yours doesnt look as bad as I expected. As hessle said take it somewhere to see if they can fit a new centre section and have it moved over, only other option is to take it off and get one that fits a saxo.

Thanks Dan. I've learned my lesson. lol. How much you talking for an exhaust made to fit the Saxo?
  13. #13
id try and flog your zorst on ebay, then search ebay stores for a company called cybox exhausts, you can buy a full stainless zorst system cat back from them for 200quid, probably be able to fit it yourself i recon.
  14. #14
How do you rate Cybox, Are they loud?
  15. #15
i have heard that they are quite loud.

I think thats a unfair comment to make, I just think the bloke went to the wrong place and not only ripped him off but took the barry instead of giving out good advice and a good service. Id always recommend a custom exhaust but there are alot of pony shops and fitters about

Again I feel he was unlucky and not sure its fair to say 'Dont Ever buy universal exhausts'.

Still not quite sure why they couldnt fit it where the OE box went as it doesnt look That big, I think a Magnex is bigger

Best idea is to leave it alone till you can afford to have a decent off the shelf item fitted or find a decent recommend custom exhaust shop to cure the problem, at least they didnt cut your bumper to fit it.

If your on a budget have alook at http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog...1385_1401_1402 these look like 'Ashley competion' style exhausts and should replace your whole system upto the cat. Maynot be Stainless steel but for the money it could be a quick fix that may suprise you.

If your thinking of ordering, get in contact with them just to confirm fitment and again find a decent recommended exhaust shop to fit it. Most knocking rubbing exhaust are down to poor fitting :-)

    Good luck

    Thanks mate

to be fair, if it was supposed to be universal fit and it didn't fit then yu should of told them where to shove it and got your money back in the first place.

No pics of the exhausts on that site mate. do you know what they look like?
  22. #22
best off removing it. have a look on ebay for a system, theres usually one or two on there. also have a look on the sale section on any of the saxo forums may get lucky.
