VTR Radiators... Problem or Not?

  1. #1
Does anybody who owns a VTR have the same problem as me?

does your radiator come on quite alot even doing short journeys? when your standing still with your engine off?
I've just had a brand new one put in but has made no difference...

do you mean fan or radiator
  3. #3
    oh yeh sorry meant fan
  4. #4
as long as the temp gauge doesn't go above just over halfway then you're fine.

it manages to always go over half way... but i had it checked by citreon and they cant find anything wrong with it...

i thought it was the radiator so i had a new one put in but still the same.. could it be something to do with the induction cold air feed?

Have you got anything rested on the temp sensor under bonnet (the blue plug on the right hand side of the rocker cover) i had my induction kit rested on this and it caused by fan to come on and off for no reason and my temp guage was going wappy

I had a raceland enclosed and it rested on that sensor and it caused my problems, if fan starts going wappy when still open bonnet and wiggle the wire going into the sensor see if that stops it

as long as the lights coming on or getting stipidly hot its fine

mine stays about half and i think it went above half once when i was on track and that was it

my radiators bust to hell... and only ever had it to 3/4 of the way when was in traffic or having a good blast in it when i first got it. but now hardly ever goes above half way with the cold weather. the fan always kicks in when it goes over half way.

its £39 for a new radiator near me i dont know why i cant be bothered to go get one and fit it

it sounds fine mate to me mine only goes over half when im on the motorway at a constant speed.

if your still not comfatable tho mate get yourself a full service done even if it does not need it its best to get it done for ease of mind ok............

when i first got my vtr the temp gauge sat between 1/2 and 3/4 so i changed the temp sender and thermostat. Made no difference at all!

I have no water loss to indicate head gasket so who knows, guess thats just normal.

seems odd though that they seem to vary from car to car when we all have the same basic bits?

Could it be an air lock in the cooling system?

My gauge goes to half (rarely) then the fan brings it down.

There is a bleed valve on the cooling system, behind and to the left of the engine. It looks like a tyre valve. Take the rad cap off, run the car until its warm, then remove the bleed cap. Water/coolant should spurt out. This helps remove the air locks.
