hi ppl.i need to fit better brakes as the stock ones are sh*t. i have a vtr on 17`s - i know a bit too big but i wanted to know what the biggest size discs i could fit under 17`s without changing the calipers.please help as i have searched and found no answers! would i see much improvement if i get bigger discs and uprated pads without changing calipers?

why not get the 306gti set up

thats the biggest you can get without going to 4 pots

and if you're going to fit big brakes then go the whole hog and fit bigger calipers, no point just fitting bigger discs. Get the 283mm/4 pot conversion from gmc.

would the 306 gti setup improve the braking allot as the car is turbo`d?

yeh if your running a turbo saxo you must have plenty of money so just,

buy some willwood 4 pots or tarox

a brake conversion will improve your braking but when you can get a second hand gti setup for the same money the question answers itself

cheers ppl, il prob go for the gti6 setup first as the turbo conversion has cost me more than i expected. ive nearly finished the conversion off so will need a good brake setup soon.

one thing i was gonna ask tho - iv sin citunings wp pro 292mm kit and was tempted to buy that, then get some 4 pots after for it, do u reckon that would be a better option? i would have bort 4 pots but carworx have messed me around with some parts so the storage cost of the car has cost me quite bad!

it'll improve braking up to a point... then it'll just keep locking.

Secret to good braking is good brake setup matched to good tyres.

as ads said tyres have alot to do with it aswell. i jsut bought the 283mm gti 6 setup for my fronts, should be here within a week and i will let u know what there like when there fitted

Toyo proxie T1-R's are good tyres.. my back end flicked today and the tyres just grabbed it and held it so i'd recomend them. If your looking at 4 pot conversions or higher take a look at www.bigbrakes4u.com, that is run by GSM and he will offer discount to you being a sax-p member.
