1996 p reg vts help

hi all and a happy new year to you all
need some help my vts is getting a bit hot the tep is going to the max .
top the water up no leaks. on the rad not getting hot air it the car from heater what will it be the heater or the thermostat any help would be a help thanks rob ....

first of all bleed the cooling system. it does sound like the thermostat isnt opening though, especially if you're not losing any coolant.

only asked because my old car (v reg fiesta) has the same problem but every now and then leaks? and need to fix it to get rid

buy a haynes manual and go for it.

im sure theres a 10mm bolt on the thermostat housing to bleed the system, are the top and bottom hoses getting hot?

have you changed the coolant on it recently? if not then possibly could be a blocked radiator or sticking thermostat.

hi this is a daft question but is the coolent the water,,plus antifreeze
or is the coolent some think i have to buy

ive not got a clue and feel very stupid as you all will say lol ...
just wont to 100% before

Coolent is the stuff used to cool the engine whilst Anti-Freeze is the stuff used basically as it says to prevent the liquid from freezing like you add to the screen whiper container I belive.

no hot air is either air lock/leak or head gasket gone.

hi and thanks for the replies i opened 2 bleed screws put a hose pipe in top of rad then pulled the trigger . then air and water came out of the two bleed holes screwed them down and i now have hot air from the heater .. thanks for the help and a happy new year to you all .....

hi all well i need a new rad got a hole in it so going to get one tomoz and fit it my self cost 60.00. happy new and had to tax it dam car but i love it lol happy new year to you all but me ....

i know what u mean mate, gotta buy one for my vts as the previous owner has bodged a hole in it and it steams, seem to be spending money on it all the time.....

well new rad fitted now all seem ok saved me sen some dosh lol about time will see how she goes thanks for all the help happy new year to you all
