HELP!!! Rear brakes locked!!

  1. #1
    Hi,

Hope someone can help, parked the car up last night, no problems, came to move it this morning, and the rear drivers side wheel wont move !!!, have had the card on axle stands, passenger side rear wheel is fine, rotates freely, hadnbrake cable works, and is not locking the drivers side wheel up, would usually freeup the shoes as per haynes manual, but cannot release the shoes as described in the book, as I can' rotate the wheel.

Any ideas ?, have tried various things short of remove the nut and force the drum off, as I am sure this will damge something...

    Help!!!!!

now i had funny problem a few months ago where i had this loud 'tinkeling' sound coming from one of my drums. My first thought was that the shoe had come off or something, so i took it to the garage.

And they discovered it was some other piece, but said I was lucky not to have the rear wheel lock up.

Dunno whether that helps or not dude

take the drum off. its not too hard to do at all. just remove the dust cap then the nut and it will come off, it may be rusted on though depending on how old your car is. if it is you will need a puller tool. the problem will be obvious once the drum is off.

when this happened on my old saxo, the shoe had broken in half and got jammed inside.

    Hi,

Got the wheel and couldn't get the drum off, then put the wheel back on (after taking off the hub nut!!) and used that as a lever to get the drum off .

The friction surface, had fallen from one of the shoes and jammed the brake on, simple (!!!) just a repalce if the shoes (both sides!) and its fixed !

    Thanks for the help,
