   everyone bangs on about enclosed filter.
   but im going to get a big cossie cone filter and make some piping up to get it near the slam panel, then make a heat sheild.
   imo, this could work better than an enclosed kit.
   what you think?

   i will have all the area where airbox was and in front of battery, plenty of room to fit a filter in.

    I was thinking of doing something similar with mine, but moving the filter to the inside of the front bumper where the fogs go. I would need to run the pipework past the rad or take a section of the slam pannel away and feed the pipe through where the second fan is in the vts

    Im currently working on an idea along those lines, want to move mine down behind the fog lights with kinda like well... what can only be described as a housing for the cone, so it will be nearly an enclosed one.

    At the end of the day All filters regardless of type, size, brand or location all suffer from the same problem . . .
    
    Gettin enough COLD air to the filter.
    
    Scoops are find in theroy but IMO (Ive had one so I would know) the scoop bolts flush to the slam panel and only draws cold air through Two Tiny holes in the slam panel, so although they are protected from heat soak they can not draw enough cold air untill upto speed and cold air is being forced into the scoop.
    
    IMO a open cone with a decent cold air feed is better day to day. But thats only IMO.
    
    Race inspirerd 'Cold Air Box' systems are truley the way forward for maximum power gains but space is always an issue.
    
    The REAL power gains are not in the filter its self but more importantly in how the cold air is delivered to the filter which will unlock the most power.

    i have now had:
    standard airbox
    above with KN panel
    then piperX cone filter
    BMC
    simota/green combo
    
    now want to stick an open cone as near to the front or the car as i can, maybe behind the passenger headlight.

    Has anyone considered moving the battery to the boot like a Mk1 Escort Mexico then you would have all that free space to construct a 'Cold Air Box' (Racecar style) with somekinda cold air feed.
    
    Battery takes up alot of space under the bonnet of any car not just the Sax.

    My battery is getting moved to the well behind the passenger seat!
    Can't see it making much of a difference to how the cold air feed works though
