vts nos

been looking at nitrous for my vts and been reading into how it works/what it does etc. just wanting anyones opinions on if its worth it on only a 1.6 engine.

and before anyone says it. no i dont think im from fast and furious

oh and my cars standard apart from raceland cold air intake, magnex de-cat piper cat-back

there is alot more that would be worth while doing before you do that mate, PM GOD106GTI he is running throttle bodies, port and polished head and some other stuff and now he is putting nos in it. without the nos at the minute its running 152bhp at the wheels - YESSSSSS

It will work but could do some damage if not used right! It does add alot of strain on the engine

Also, it is worth doing stuff to a 1.6, if thats what you want to do then do it, the only car that in theory you wouldn't want to make faster is a bugatti veyron in my eyes.

Bloke in my area put a 50 bhp shot of nos in his VTS wasnt cheap set up either, was racing a VTS with all the usual breather mods and the other one was pulling away, then he set off the nos and it flew but the engines tapping like a bastard now so hes taken it off.

cheers mate, i was thinking i dont have the money for TB's, cams etc etc but just want something to add that extra power

any idea how likely it is to damage the engine? say if im only using it now and again?

Alrite thought my ears were burning!!! Yes i'm running 152bhp at the wheels and i'm going for either a 50shot or even a 75shot. but i'm running a mini maxi setup which puts its in slowly an not all at once. Keep away from the cheap kits are shit talk to wizards of NOS an they'll tell u mate.

Im, no expert mate this bloke wasnt really into reinforcing the engine and doing it properly he just fitted the most expensive kit, within reason, think it was about 600 quid. Regrets it now though. Like God said give the pros a ring

lol! well the two kits im torn between are one of the 'wizards of nos' kits or one of the 'dynotune' kits, was going to buy off the internet but i probly would be better phoning up. both the kits ive looked at havnt said anything about a mini maxi setup i dont think. i was only going for the small 50hp shots tbh

lol i know its confusing mate. Just give those in the know a ring. One thing i do know though is that its meant to be ebtter for your engine and for power gains if you start off with small shots, and then work your way up.

well right wizard of NOS mate they the best an they no there stuff. you have to add it to the setup mate. will cost more than £400 tho.

I wouldnt bother with it personally, would rather spend it on other bits first like manifold, cams etc.

just want to be different tbh, i could get cams and im getting a manifold anyway in 2 weeks time but after id have it cammed id want something faster as i would have another years no claims and a payrise,

so id rather get some nitrous in it so at least its different to everyone elses plus i can always say i used to have a VTS that was gassed

more fun aswell than it been cammed as its just a button with power on it so not always powerful, just when i want it to be

nitrous will only damage an engine if its not fitted and setup right
it creates a cleaner burn so is better for the engine than normal air, the reason it blows things up is because people get gready and fit massive bhp jets without a controler, to work properly it needs to be controled, you wouldnt fit a turbo without adding more fuel to the engine so why would you fit WON without doing it properly

thats the best kit to start with, and you can add direct port jets at a later date, if you stay below 50bhp wtihout a controler you will be fine, you will need to uprate you sparkplugs but thats about it, before the kit is fitted you will need a compression check done and a spark strengh test carried out, but and decent WON dealer will have the equipment to do these and if your engine does not meet the required levels then they will advise you of this and not fit the kit, if you go somewhere that just bolts thekit on without carrying out the required tests then its just asking for trouble

i was thinking of staying below 50bhp until i could afford the contoller but to be honest i wasnt thinking of going too far above 50bhp for a while. what kind of spark plug would i need, dual spark or something or is it something totally different?
