how is the quickshift better than cutting your own gear stick??

    cheers

one actually creates a shorter shift the othe just gives the impression of a shorter shift
  3. #3
    there is no difference.

ben - if you look at how teh quickshifts work you just lower the gearnob to give a shorter throw.

surely if u just cust the gear shaft you are just making the exact same shift but with a shorter shaft.

how do u lower your gear stick?

    i don't understand lol

someone please how this makes the shift better

why not fit a quickshift kit and cut the shaft even more, so it sits lower?? lol

    lol

    you could boz, lol

a quickshift just lets you lower the actual gear nob. therefore you dont move your arm as far to change gear, meaning less time is taking. cutting your shaft (no joke intended) would be just the same.

a quickshift is height adjustable so you dont need to cut it.

Anyone been in a mr2 there shifters are like less than 6"'s it feels as if every gear is really close to gether is this just because of the short shaft
  15. #15
so realy instead of spending like 80 notes or whatever it is on a quickshift you could actually spend 10 mins cutting your old shaft and outting the gearknob back on???/ and then you save yourself 80 quid???

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^thats what i understand ^^^^^^^^^^

hmmm does a quikshift kit not actually move the pivot point though? Thus shortening the travel. Cutting the shaft will keep the same pivot point and the same amount of travel below the shaft, only giving an impression of a shorter shift?

Not saying im right but thats my understanding

quick shift from ecose r the best it conects to the link rods n shortens it there instead so u dont ave to touch the stick at all

    Thats exactly rite!

i once shortened my gear stick, and then decided 2 buy a b&m quickshift, and it was totally different. with a quickshift u get the same height gear stick as standard, just a shorter throw. deffinately worth investing in 1 imo.
