Does anyone know the law on window tints? I have read that the front windscreen can be upto 30% and the front sides 35% and the rear unrestricted. But i always thought the front windscreen could not be tinted at all. What % have you got and does or have anyone been hassled by the police? Also where did you get your tints done? Cheers

#2anything on front windscreen is illegal! anything after the B Pillar as its like driving a van, front sides seem to change alot so not sure what they are atm
-
#3Front not at all, back + rear back full, front sides 30%
www.midlandtinting.co.uk
got mine done there, live round the corner £140 notes, full job proffesional and mint, love them, think it was a reasonable price to pay - not like they have just been stuck on. -
#4Front side windows have to let 70% light through, which means that virtualy tints are illegal on them aswell as the windows come out of the factory with a slight tinit on them as standard.
-
#5I think if the tints were on prior to the date of the law change the police can use the discretion to weather its dangerous or not (I have tints on mine and the police have never moaned about them)

#7so the front windscreen no tint at all, the two front side windows 30% or less and the back is unrestricted. Just think the front sides need some sort of tint so it blends out from dark to light.

#11Window Tints
As of January 1st 2004, new legislation was brought in that prohibits window tinting.
The Law:
You are not allowed to tint your windscreen or front windows AT ALL. Anything forward of the B pillar (middle of the car) MUST NOT be tinted in anyway. You are however still allowed to perform any level of tinting on your back windows.
If you've tinted you windows before January that does not mean that you are safe, if the police believe that your tint causes reduced visibility they can issue you with an order to have it removed.
For those skim reading
NO tints atall on front windows or windscreen
Unlimited tints on rear windows -
#12as willsy has said he bet me to it, like the "For those skim reading" lol
i got pulled abit back and had to take my front ones out and it is defo not worth the hassle -
#13Not even 10% or something just think it looks better when the darknesses is faded out rather than tinted dark and then normal. Dont want pitch black on the back anyway. Was going to have 70%/80% on the rear then 60%/70% on the rear side then 10%/15% on the front sides. Maybe not know.

#14am gettin mine done on Wed
