vtr head

   right im changing my vtr head, im replacing it with one that has been port polished and all that.
   
   when changing the head would it be a good idea to change the cam belt at the same time? also wot else would u change

   the cambelt will be off anyway and its always worth replacing if its off.

   is it a hard job to do?
   can get a cam belt for £10 is that a good price

   I wouldn't reuse an old cam belt..

   I was under the impression that the cam belt fitting required a special jobby machine to ensure the belt was under the correct tension??

    hey mate
    
    i have done my best with the head.
    just needs a good cleaning. going to take it to work tomorrow to see if i can use the chemical wash.
    
    i have opened up the start of the inlet ports and the exit of the exhaust ports. i have removed all the casting snots that where in the ports and polished them up as far as i can get into the ports. they are nice and smooth now. not too sure if it will make a massive didference??
    
    just dpends on weather i can get into work to use the wash or not.
    
    will let you know when its ready.
    
    when fitting the head, i would:
    
    use a new head gasket
    new inlet seals
    new exhaust gaskets, and nuts.
    would be a good idea to fit a new rocker head gasket
    you will new to add all the sensors and bits off your head.
    its the exact same head so you carnt go wrong. just put the 2 side by side and fit every bit one at a time.
    
    i would defo fit a new cam belt mate, not worth taking the chance

    not to sure.
    
    the head gasket will be most expensive.
    the rest will probs be £15 max. see citreon for the price of a head gasket, dont think you can reuse head gaskets, wouldnt be a good idea. you could have the one of my car if you want? would be better getting a new one though. i would.

    nuts and bolts i need £3.50
    
    but when i asked for the inlet seals like looked at me stupid does anyone no the real name off this
    
    also been to see my mate and he said he will fit all this for £150

    inlet manifold has o rings in it as seals, would have thourght they would need to be replaced??? maybe not.
    
    i checked the head with a steel setting bar and some feelers, its not warpped. its up to you if you want to skim it, i have cleaned it all up and there is no shite on it. i had my escort head skimmed once but when gasket blew again i never bothered. fitted a new gasket and i was fine.
    
    a guy does them loacally but not sure how much for? i could find out for you but im not sure if it will be sorted for saturday. it mite have been £30-£40. text me if you want me tp try and get it done for you tomorrow, bare in mind tho that mymate will have the head cleaning it until 1.30 tomorrow afternoon. might be a case of picking it up late saturday afternoon if you want it done and he can do it?
