What do I need to . . .

  1. #1
Ok Im getting ready to finally lower my S, just need some advise on what bits I need to order.

Rite Ive picked the following parts:

Pi Suspension kit 35mm drop (Don't want to go any lower)

    Poly Bushes (full set)

OMP strut brace (Lower, as Ive already got upper)

Now Ive spoke to rushy and few others breifly about fitting GTi/Rallye anti roll bars, and I would like to go ahead with this idea now (sorry if this sound completly darft) . . .

How many are there? I mean is it just one or one at the front and one at the rear? and is it a main dealer part only. Oh and they are a Direct swap item arent they? no cutting or bangin bendin weldin or anything like that?

Sorry if this sounds all very gay but not that clear on the setup.

    Ok thanks guys

are you going to lower the torsion bar yourself mate?

you need to get the antiroll bar out of a gti mate or buy an uprated 1 from gmc motorsport or similar

what year is your car? if you are going to do the torsion bar yourself it isnt hard and there are some good guides to do it ive done a few using them
just make sure u soak everything in wd40 and release oil and you will be fine the hardest bit is gettin the passenger side bar out

as for poly bush's you will most likely need a garage to press them on althought you can do the 1 that go's up through the floor or the car yourself with a grinder and a copper hammer

hope this helps a bit i also changed the droplinks when i did mine but only because they looked a bit tired

Who's going to do the lowering mate?

do you mean anti roll bar or torsion bar out of the gti

the polly bushes will need to be pressed into position

torsion bar is same in vts and gti i think its the antiroll bar that varies

The cars a 99(v) Phase2 VTS, as for fitting nar to much work for me I'll get someone to do it for me. Some mentioned the GMC was about £200 any idea how much a GTi/Rallye one is, you say 'out of GTi' does that mean you cant buy one over the counter in main dealer?

Not sure as yet, was gona get all my bits over this month then book it in somewhere in Feb. There is a good bloke that does custom exhausts and lowering amonst over things not far from where I work called 4xtreme performance just outside Basildon/Billericay, but doing bushes and anti roll bars maybe alittle too much as he's only little one man shop. but Ill cross that bridge when I come to it

you could buy one from over the counter, but it would probs cost you just as much as one from gmc, go to pug ans ask, but you wil probs need a chassey number.

go to a scrappy see if they have any in, worth a try, ive just given up gettin one at the moment as i have no time to look around

none of the standard saxos/106s have 24mm torsion bars. that would be rock solid

My cars due to have Cam belt and Aux belt changed Thursday so as soon as thats done and Im back up and runnin (Aux belt got super lose) Im gona look to start collecting the parts I need.

Fort Id get the Bushes and have them fitted before the cars lowered that way its not so expensive as if I was having it all done at the same time. Heard the rear Bush is quite expensive to have changed.

Also could the lower Strut brace be fitted at the sametime as the bushes before the suspesion gets dropped?

leeroy the torsion arent 21mm, 21 and upwards is aftermarket upgrades- very stiff. people are getting arb and torsion bars mixed up

Yep good point Bullit - Where not talk Torsion bars thats some Completely different boys and girls, where talking Anti Roll Bars. Which are slightly bigger ona GTi/Rallye and Bigger say GMC's Competion item.
