my pug idea??

  1. #1
Right most of you lot will know my car and the bits which dont look so good on it and that need to be changed. eg, the rear bumper and exhausts! spoiler has already gone by its own means (stolen!!) so i will probably leave it without one as it looks quite good!

Well my original idea was to change my exhausts to two straight ovals and get my original bumper fiberglassed round them and resprayed.

Was talking to a friend last night who has just bought a new saxo and telling me how he wanted my exhausts! showed me a pic of his and hes got the 2 ovals i want!!! so basically were thinking about swapping exhausts and rear bumpers if they fit which i have a good feeling they will. plus he said he would give me a bit of money on top as my exhaust system will be more expensive than his.

well heres mine at the momentsorry about pic quality)

and heres hisagain sorry about pic quality)

better pic of the bumper but without the exhasusts

Basicaly what do you lot think?!!!!! and how much extra should i ask from him?!!
  2. #2
I prefer yours as it is now in all honesty........

What make are you exhausts? What are his? Id say powerflow
  3. #3
i prefer the ones on the saxo, altho i think it would look better all standard
  4. #4
yeah his are powerflow. not too sure about mine to be honest.

Yeah i like mine, but just fancy changing something to make it a bit different than how everyone knows it, and this would be the thing i would want to change and the oppertunity has come up where its not going to be overly expensive!!
  5. #5
I reckon the new idea would look really good
  6. #6
Oooh. Well I do like the ovals but whether or not they'd suit your car better than his I do not know. Your car is "heavily" modified and even though your exhausts arent to my cup of tea, they do go with the theme of the car. Just like his exhausts do on his car.

Maybe you could ask somebody to do a photoshop to give you an idea of how the exhausts will look with your cars current theme/styling?

As for how much extra you should ask for... I'm not too sure. They're both duplex systems and to be honest, I think it'd be good if you just did a straight swap and you both paid out to have the work done. Maybe yours are/were a little more in the first place but you didn't really pay for them. The previous owner did

Just my two pennies worth babe.
  7. #7
he offered though damo so im not going to refuse some money!!

yeah if someone could photoshop then that would be really helpfull!! hint hint!!

i was thinking that about it not looking right but most people say to me the exhasuts dont look right with it. heres a couple more pics of mine so you can picture the rest of it with the different bumper

  8. #8
From looking at yours and his rear pics, it appears the rear bumper "should" go straight on because you both have the wide arches. That'll make things hell of a lot easier. So it is just a case of taking one off and putting the other on.

    What Saxo does he have?
  9. #9
its VTR mk 2. they only thing is the exhausts, would they fit on each car??
  10. #10
there both custom chelle so depends how the where made and were they joined them
  11. #11
Well... I'd say no. The supports, etc... should be in the same position because the Saxo and 106 are "very" similar but it depends on what's been done underneath. It's probably advisable to have somebody look under both and see how easy it will be.

I swapped my system with Ads but that was a little less complicated because we both have Mk2 Y-reg VTS's.

yeah thats what i was thinking. still early days and ideas really
  13. #13
Things you'd need to check would be:-

    - Are all the supports there?

    - Where does it split in two?

    - Your cat's under the car. Is his in the manifold?

    - Connection from centre section to downpipe.

    Just some pointers.

I reckon his bumper in the last pic with just mesh would look awesome on your car. Hide the exhausts and it will look a lot tidier imo

ones what dont stick out as far or pointed downwards

if you got them sitting behind the mesh and blowing the fumes through the mesh it would become burnt and dark

so best to get them pointing downwards
  18. #18
i would only need one then wouldnt i if i did that??
  19. #19
think the 106 and the saxo are slightly different when it comes to the rear mountin points of the exhaust, because the "pug sport" back box requires some alteration for it to fit the rubber mounts, but sayin that i think that the duplex systems dont use the original mounts, a mate of mine had a scorpion duplex and it was an arse to fit as it didnt line up with the original mounts, so your prob lookin at needin to get it done proffesionally by powerflow or ur local exhaust cowboy
  20. #20
You could get a side exit coming out through the side skirt possibly, that wouldn't look to bad, the ront and side of the car seems pretty subtle/sleek, the back does look a bit agro, the new one would suit it more My opinion!
  21. #21
    yeah just the one

    custom jobbie

look at bens (chandler) thread on here in the photo section, hes had his exhaust done so he can hide it when his car eventually goes into the body shop

    thats upto u

if your not bothered abot noise get a 1.1 box as they point downwards

would need a reducer pipe on your middle pipe to fit though
  23. #23
I actually think your exhausts look better how they are, but the rear bumper off the saxo would look nicer on yours Chelle.
  24. #24
its hard to decide without actually seeing it on the car!! im not good at imagining what things will look like!!!
  25. #25
ill do you a photoshop of what you want just get me some pictures

need them at about the same angle if you can
  26. #26
your a star. these two are similar

any good?? their the only ones ive got really unless i go take some of the pug tomorrow to match the ones of the saxo
  27. #27
hmmm the 2nd ones a bit dark either get one of yours in the dark or his in the light lol, if you can get some to match the saxo that would be better
ill still give it a go though
  28. #28
just had a go but with the 2nd picture being dark you cant get the colour match, i can get the bumper lined up but colour is a no no lol

try and get some tommorrow about the same angle as his in the light

    cheers
  29. #29
ok il do that as soon as i can get hold of the camera

show me what you managed so i get a rough idea??
  30. #30
here we go, its so hard to get the colour to match you get the idea though

  31. #31
ah your a star!! i like that alot!!!! thoughts?
  32. #32
i like it a lot better than the other one

heres one without the number plate

  33. #33
I'd say go for it chell!

    It looks loads neater
  34. #34
i like it reminds me of the dimma rear bumper which i said you shoudl do agers ago i prefer the dimma as the sides are plain but you wont be paying for this.

i do think you would have exhaust problems

tried to add a bit of colour to the pic, hope mr predator dont mind

  35. #35
no problems matey i couldnt get the colour right lol

    guess im an amatuer huh
  36. #36

    ahhhhhhhhhhhh the gamma
  39. #39
ovals look well smart do the swap babes you'll be alot happier ............

on rear bumper use black mesh since your alloys are black it would look class IMO.
  40. #40
looks nice but b careful about the arches as they might not lign up correctly. Possibly do a trial fit to see if everything is ok.
  41. #41
    hide the exhaust chelle

    would look so much better

    agreed!

    that will look best imo
  43. #43
lol if someone wants they can take the exhuasts out the photoshop if they like and mesh it!!!
  44. #44
    What happened to this idea?
  45. #45
its only been a few days....
  46. #46
yeah got other stuff to sort now

but hopefully should stil be getting done!!!
  47. #47
vibrating gear knob? i know you wanted something different but thast takes the piss...

  48. #48
im betting your car gets some attention
  49. #49
personally id just swap and get the oval pipes chicken

hiding the exhausts will cost u alot of money and knowin your luck would cause nothing but hassel tbh!!!
  50. #50
but getting the oval exhausts would cost abit cause new brackets would have to be made to hold the exhuast etc
  51. #51
yeah it gets alot of attention. randomers always come over and start talking and taking pics. some man yesterday actually thought id been on pimp my ride and was shocked when i said i hadnt!!

think the best bet would be to take both cars to garage and see how much work would be involved to swap the exhausts. the arches on the cars are the same so the bumpers should hopefully fit on!
  52. #52
oh and i made a mistake his saxo is actually a mk 1, thought it was mk 2 but he has headlight conversion. will that change the exhausts being so difficult?
  53. #53
    whos car is this hus?
  54. #54
    Tom from bmouth chick

Maybe not... The existing supports are usually left intact just incase they are needed in the future. It's very rare to find a company remove the existing supports/brackets.
