Noticable difference?

  1. #1
    on a VTS

    S/S 4-1 Manifold, and a Cat Back s/s exhaust.

    Difference in noise and performance?
  2. #2
    yes will be
  3. #3
like what hessle? just more noise?

would a Raceland manifold connect up to a standard exhaust system fine?

Am I a fool for wanting to keep my cat?
  4. #4
    both perfoamnce and noise

de cating will improve both again

not sure about raceland i done see why not though
  5. #5
it should fit the standard as i doubt they would change the flange on it why not de cat it?
  6. #6
just put my de-cat and system on the vts, sounds the nuts and feels alot better. going to fit my raceland manifold at the weekend, then fit a better direct cold feed to the standard air box and do a bit of modifying to it

go for it mate, get a de-cat too and just fit the cat back on for the MOT, 10min job to change them over

It will fit to the standard centre section ot CAT. The manifold will make the car more raspy in my experiences.
  8. #8
What sort of hp gains do you expect he'll get from those mods?
  9. #9
On an 8v, I got a 13bhp increase at the Fly wheel, but more importantly the engine with breath better and the engine will rev more freely. But outright will not change until you go into cams etc.
  10. #10
    on his 16v?
  11. #11
Well, the same maybe more, maybe less. There are tolerances on differing engines.
  12. #12
Should notice it being a little more responsive and should be able to feel an increase in performance.

karl you might as well wait till i get mine out and see the difference between the two cars............
  15. #15
lol karl u know it makes a difference..... hence why i am a bit faster than you...

    plus stripped rally slag effect
  16. #16
perhaps i will save for an exhaust system and manifold system then...and a decat i spose too...
but then my engine management light will be on

Noise really depends on which exhaust you chooce really.

    All depends on budget ie

A mild steel 'Ashley' style sytem from www.rallydesign.co.uk comes in at a budget price of about £120

where as a Stainles steel system by Magnex will be closer to the £250-£280 dpending on where you buy in from.

If you still lookin to keep the sleeper look personally I keep it as small as possably and not get a Magnex as the rear Silencer is just far to big. Possably a custom build with a smaller tailpipe.

Also personally I choose to keep the cat all be it changing to a Janspeed sports cat, I couldnt be bothered with makin sure the cat was back in for MoT day and what not.
