'Restoring' Saxo...

  1. #1
Okay, my 1998 Saxo I've had for 3 months is getting lowered on Monday, after which time I'm going to be spending a lot of effort and hopefully little money into making it look like new... hopefully. Heres some of the problems that I'd like help on rectifying:

Front and rear wiper arms are flaked and faded, what can I do? Obviously there's the option of replacement, but is it possible to respray them?

Also, for some reason, there's something dodgy about the front. The panels don't seem to be flush on one side. One side is perfect and smooth, the other has a bigger gap between the bottom of light and bonnet, and the edge of the grill that goes under the lights doesnt fit to the wing properley. What can I do about this? Just take the front apart and put it back together?

There's a tiny dent (about size of 10p) with no markings to the paint on the front bonnet... any idea of getting it out? (Tried a suction cup lol!)

I also need to fix up a keying on the drivers door (hoping some cutting polish and paint will do it fine).

And lastly, the side trim off the drivers door keeps popping off.. any recommended glue for keeping it on?

Wiper arms can be sprayed mate, it's an easy job.

If the scratch is deep enough that you get your nail caught in it when you brush over it, it is too deep to polish out. If not, it should polish out, you will probably need a polisher though.

Use Tigerseal on the side trim.

yeah you can spray wipers take off the car and paint

maybe its been in a crash and the pannels havent been put back right
loosen the pannels and line them up all ok

try a paintless dent removel company (chipsaway etc)

might polish out depends how deep if you have a machine polisher and decent polish and isnt to deep it will probley come out
if not will need spraying again

have you tried new clips if you have silicone will seal it

    think thats them all answered

the wipers come off very easy. theres 1 bolts holding each wiper on

by the sounds off it the car has been in a front end smash

and for for the trim you can either buy some new clips from citreon for about 50p each, or if you wanna use a glue, your best off going for tiger seal

if the scratch is really bad see if you can find a door the same colour off your car and fit it

    simple

Thanks for the replies! I'll probably take a trip to the dealer tomorrow... never done it before, should be quite an experience

While I'm there I'll ask for the missing boot strings... getting annoying having to lift up the parcel shelf every time!

Wipers can be painted, the grille has a clip behind it under the light which has probably snapped, can get a replacement from citroen for pennies, tiger seal for the door panel and a mobile dent repair dude will be able to sort the dent.

Shouldnt cost too much to sort.

Had one when bought, all clear. Also had car completely serviced and been told it's in excellent nick! Crash entered my mind though.
