Power From 1.4

  1. #1
i am fed up with having shitey power in my westcoast i have a crappy max power filter on for the noise and a back box! that is all to the engine but ever since i put these on i think the car has actually got very slow and it sounds like the power is blowing straight out the back of it

so i am asking yous now what the F£ck can i put on the thing to make it faster? i was thinking on straight through with a gen 2 k&n but and a 4-2-1 but then was told i will notice the difference but not much i would reali just want it to be able to keep up with a slightly standard VTR like

any suggestions? i have searched and have got a couple of good threads which i am trying to use and have added above but i need mores like cams and flywheels and shite would they help ?

depeneds how much money you have to spend, if you have the money then youd be better off buying a vtr, if not go for a full system and a BMC filter imo

You can get a full exhaust system and de-cat, manifold, enclosed air filter.

Not sure if a cam is available for a 1.4 though.

Spending this money you may aswell buy a vtr.

wey your probs going to end up spending near to a grand just to match the performance of a vtr, but then again the vtr engine looks very similar to the 1.4, if you get what i mean, but ov course you would have to inform your insurance. But you could probs do vtr conversion for little money.

this guys furio is running 105bhp apparently and the mods he lists are, k&n induction and brether, torin inlet manifold and injectors, ultimate road cams, ecu mapped to run with the mods, voltage stabilizer, other misc engine mods

    no proof of it then?lol

There also be an icelandic blue furio, think his name is something similar to "icelandicfurio" or something, his is cammed.

Is an engine swap not an option? I'd look at the 1.6 8v engine .. it'd make a better starting point

I think Piper make a cam for the 1.4 engine, if you want to persevere with it change the manifold as well, and they also respond well to head work.

i think its good that people with the lower model saxo's are modding them to get reasonable amounts of power from them, as aposed to just doing it they easy way any sticking a VTR/S conversion in there!

Would be good to see what gains can be had from a 1.4, but in my opinion I wouldnt spend alot of money on a 1.4 saxo to get it to the power of a vtr when I could buy a vtr with the same money and start from there.

depends on project, theres a lad on ssc sticking a tbd vts lump in his westy. money wise easier to get a vts then start,

more possibilities of problems with a VTS than a 1.4 8v though

you could try bend the accelerater pedel up towards the dash. so you can push it down more!!! he he

on a serious note, i got cammed 1.4 keeps wi vtr's to about 100, i got cam cheap though. not really worth buyin new one and gettin it set up. far cheaper to put vtr enginein... and they look near enough identical

if he has modded engine to 105 bhp -then if he drops a vgtr block under the mods he has done he will get a lot more power --its more cc,s-also cheapest way to go --just get it remapped --unichip after fitting 1.6 bottom end --maybe fit 1.6 injectors to start, after fitting 1.6 block with and see how it goes -then decide on what mapping it needs
