Running a rallye inlet manifold

  1. #1
does anyone know weather if i was to stick a rallye inlet manifold on my car weather id need my ecu mapped. or would it run without any problems?

    thanks.

it wouls run like a bag of shite.
ive only known of 2 s2 rallyes (vtr engine basically) running ok with the inlet, involves some ball ache, and haveboth had ecu remapped.

not worth the probs imo unless you have patience.

if you wish to still go ahead though, pm me or join the RR will be alot of info there on this.

Wouldn't bother, can lose power even after remap, it does however allow better idle with steep cam grind and if you run a race engine it will be beneficial at really high revs due to the oversized throttle body

ahh. ill give it a try anyway can always take it back off if its not going right and then i can sell it.

ive just been reading up on the RR and it seems that you can get it to run fine even without a remap. so i plan to go ahead with this next weekend probably.

ill post up how it goes just incase anyone is intrested. never know.

it is very unlikely that you will get it to run very well without a remap though, and i hope you do have another car to use when yours is off the road fitting this, as if anything goes wrong it may take a while to fix.

I would buy it like yesterday since my car needs to go back to get the map tweaked anyway it would be so good for me let me know thanks

i dont understand why its so difficult. i know of a few s2 rallyes with them that havent had remaps and run fine.

after having a s2 engine with s1 inlet, albeit breifly, it was interesting, the idle was all over the place and needed to be held at 1k until warm. alex did have a look after and decided that the previous owner had totally fudged the wiring...

which is the thing from reading about it on RR over the last year or so, the different problems people have had.

Right i see. well i can do it and say i tried if it doesnt go well. thanks for the advice
  12. #12
not a problem, hope it works out well for you. it does give a nice inlet noise

i've fitted this recently to my vtr thanks to some help from dan (from RR), and its running perfect at 1000 revs, i've been told though to get more gains out of it you will need a remap

So is the S2 Rallye inlet manifold a direct swap for a VTR then?

I was under the impression although the R and Rallye have different cams and few other bits they were pretty much the same lump . . . or am I totally wrong?
  15. #15
not sure mate, i was told that the s2 rallye inlet and vtr one are almost the same though
  16. #16
will only fit directly onto black top vtr.

I will do a write up on this later done it one my furio

thats weird, it went onto my silvertop
  19. #19
It will fit early silvertops no problems. Easy way to tell port spacing is like this:

Black top and early silver top have 6 bolts holding the inlet on 4 ontop 2 on bottom.

Later silvertops had 3 ontop and 2 on bottom.

If yours is the earlier described it will fit

should work fire if done correctly --will not give a major power increase till other mods done --its not the reason why that engine was 100bhp and the blacktop was 90

    what other mods mate?
  22. #22
why not just fit the engine as well which came with the mani on?
  23. #23
I know from experience that the rallye inlet just sounds nice... you'll need a re-map to see any gain as the car will still fuel for VTR airflow... my mate has a gti AX with one on and thats the only real difference between his car and mine and we are neck and neck at Santa pod .001 of a sec difference in favour of the rallye inlet
