Manifolds

Thinking of getting a SS Manifold for my vts
Ive notice that with the vts the power doesnt kick in till about 4k,So would it be better to get a 4-1 or get a 4-2-1
Ive read that the 4-1 is better lower revs and the 4-2-1 is better for higher revs....is this correct and what do you think i should get

its the other way round mate, 4-2-1 helps lower down the rev range and the 4-1 helps higher up the rev range, what you need to decided is do you want a bit more lower down grunt or a bit more higher up the revs. i have got a heat wrapped raceland 4-2-1 on my vts and the reason i went for this was because the vts power is fine as soon as the cams kick in but it was not lower down the revs so i got the 4-2-1 to help it pickup more before the cams kick in and then the cams can take over higher up the rev range

Do a search or look below for related threads as this gets asked on a very regular basis.

I had alook on e-bay last night for manifolds theres lots to pick from so if ur after one then look on there for prices so u dont end up paying over the odds

when you stick a 4-2-1 on you realise how pants the standard one was
  7. #7
is that going to be the same for a vtr to???

the standard manifolds on all saxo's are pretty lame. Replacing the one on the VTR and VTS gives very impressive gains. The 4-2-1 raceland gives increases across the whole rev range from low down all the way to peak

i had a 4-2-1 on my vtr engine and it made a bit off a difference,as they say every little helps.
KamRacing--ill give u you pm when i get payed to sort one out

Its always a good idea to know what you want before investing in parts ie if your looking for more low down grunt then the 4-2-1 is better but if your lookin for abit more mid to top end gains then 4-1 is the way to go.

I agree with Stev, I personally would rather have the lower down gains but thats IMO :-) and Im ususally wrong :-)

I've got a 4-2-1, pulls a lot harder lower down now

    You want one!

i went for the GMC 4-1 on my vts. heres how i see it, when your just cruising about or driving from here or there your only using your lower revs and dont really need the power. however, when it comes to giving it a bit of welly you dont drop below 4k revs. IMO thats when you need it, id rather have all the power when im booting it rather than have it when its not really necessary. just my opinion tho

the raceland gives good gains over the whole rev range including top end.

Its all about useable power.. I'd happily trade a couple of bhp at top for a healthy dollop in midrange

yeah but raceland is made from thin as shit ss

how much are the raceland manifolds to fit the mk 2 cat on manifold
  18. #18
Raceland only make one version of the manifold.. on the mark 2 saxo you have to change the oil filter and thread to the mk1 version so that it clears the manifold.

they are better made than a lot of people give them credit for. I've seen much worse offerings

Will they be any better on a MK II saxo, if I fit a M I cat underneath?
