Basically when my engine gives up i want to rebuild it but using an uprated cam and performance pistons etc, trouble is i cant find anywhere that sells these bits for my engine. Does anyone know where i can get this stuff to? Links would be great! Also before people start saying its not worth it etc, jus out a VTS engine in, i'm 17 and my insurance is at £200, i want to keep it tht way! lol.

No way can your insurance be £200, Mine is £800 with 2yrs NCB and I'm 20!?

Bit of a problem there mate once you start doing this work your insurance isnt going to be £200 it will be alot more with a fully uprated engine

at a guess he forgot a zero and his insurance is 2000, and like stiffler said you`d have to declare the mods and it would probably come out close if not more to a standard vts anyway

you can get decent power out of a 1.4 but its expensive when you consider that an engine swap could cost less than £700

Thanks so far guys, and yes my insurance is £200. Tbh there would be no point in telling the insurance company about it as how would they ever know whats inside the engine, when you crash they dont take that apart anyway. lol. The reason why my insurance is cheao is because i'm on my dads as a name driver, i earn no claims still and before people say its illegal bein a name driver etc, its not as it doesn't say on my policy that i'm only allowed to do a certain amount of miles each year.

somw guy in this forum had a 1.4 and was getting 105bhp out of it which is scarey

that was with uprated cams, ecu remap etc

They Increase the duration the valves are open for so more air in and more gasses out, add increased fuling and then you get more power.

to get the most from the cams yes! in doing this you will not only get a large increase in power but also betterfuel consumption if done properly!

You won't need better pistons as the inlet maniofold won't let you get much more out of it. You'll need throttle boddies and serious induction mods to run lairy cams which will be a bit more noticable on the engine. 90bhp is going to be about your max.

You're right, its not technically illegal to be insured as a named driver on your dads policy, however should you try and make a claim they may well say that you're clearly the main driver and not pay, you'll have to take them to court where you'll more than likely loose as the accident will have happened on a regular trip, proving that you're the main driver. You're also not insured to use it for your commute to place of work/school as well.

You can tell me its all bullshit etc if you want, I'm not that bothered. Fact is that a few people have now been stung on this and have had to pay out to third parties themselves, inconvenient when 200k is involved for causing a perminant injury. At that point you'll also find that your insurance has been revoked, leading to a driving without insurance charge

the 1,3 106 rallye got 103hp with a 1300 engine. Get the wiring loom, head and ecu from the 1,4 xsi. and the manifold from the 1,3 rallye. and u will see 105 hp easy. I'll bet u get all these parts cheap from the scrapyard over where u live.

A bit more difficult here in Norway

    ^^^ would that work?

I'm running a saxo 1,4 with the 1,3 inlet manifold now. I'm going to put an xsi head on later or a xsi head and a 1,6 block. It will then need a remap or using the 1,3 loom and ecu with a 1,6 chip probably. But the best and easiest way is a remap I think.

so you think that by getting the wiring loom, head and ecu from the 1.4 xsi and the manifold from the 1.3 rallye, that he will see an increase of 30bhp EASILY!?! I think your telling Porkies young man!!

I'm a old man but anyway the 1,4 xsi is 95hp original. the 1,3 rallye is 103 hp original. so i bet u get more than 103 hp with 1,4 bottom end and 1,3rallye/1,4 xsi head. the standard 1,4 saxo is only 75 hp. so yes! I think it's possible to get 105hp with these mods.
